Monthly Musings - July

July 27, 2023

I'm joining Holly and Patty for their Monthly Musings.

We will be answering questions on the topic:  July 2023 Summer Fashion.

Here are the questions:

1.  Favorite Summer Outfit?  I usually wear during the week athletic shorts and a T-shirt.  If I'm going out I usually wear jean shorts and a dressier top.  I also like wearing T-Shirt dresses like the one below in black from Old Navy.

2.  Favorite Summer Footwear?  I love wearing my leather and rubber Birkenstock sandals, also my floral Stan Smith Adidas sneakers.  I get a lot of compliments on my floral sneakers.  I like wearing flip-flops if I'm going to the beach or pool.

3.  What Summer Accessories Are You Wearing on Repeat?  I love wearing sunglasses on repeat.

4.  What Do You Use For a Summer Bag?  I love using a blue slouchy crossbody handbag similar to the one below.

5.  What Summer Scents Are You Wearing?  I love wearing any perfume by Jo Malone, and Kate Spade New York.

6.  Maxi Dress, Romper, Jumpsuit?  I haven't worn any of these this summer.

7.  Favorite Summer Sunglasses?  I love wearing my Coach or Chanel sunglasses.  For the beach, I like to wear less expensive sunglasses.

8.  Favorite Summer PJ's?  I always wear a short nightgown.

9.  Do You Wear White After Labor Day?  No.

10.  Favorite Summer Fashion Trend Right Now?  I'm wearing right now very casual and comfortable clothes.

Holly and Patty, I enjoyed answering these fun questions on summer fashion.

Life Lately - July

July 17, 2023

Hello friends.  I can't believe we are already into the middle of July.  Here's what's been going on lately.

My daughter recently traveled to Ireland and England with her friend and cousin.  They had a great time and this is what my daughter brought back for us.

This headband from Ireland is so adorable.

I love this assorted tea collection.  We loved the iced peach and passion fruit tea.

I love wearing this pretty apron and using the tea towels from Harrods.
This tea mug is so cute.
We've made a few drinks with this pink strawberry-flavored gin.

I have kale growing and we've used it in our smoothies every morning.  This is my first time planting kale and it grows great in a big container.
I'm so happy to throw some cherry tomatoes I've got growing into our salads.

We have a new Poke restaurant that has opened up in our neighborhood.  We've done take-out from there a few times for dinner.

We have a stray cat who my daughter named Gracie and it looks like she wants to move in.  I came home from the gym and I found her laying on my back stoop.  This is the closest she has ever come to us.  She is afraid of us but we love it when she comes to visit.

A trip that never happened.  We were supposed to take a short trip to Las Vegas last week to meet friends for dinner and shows.  We were supposed to fly out last Sunday but we didn't make it because Delta decided to cancel our flight due to bad weather.  We made it through security and on the plane with no problems and spent a long time at the airport.  Delta told us they could fly us out to Salt Lake City at 8:00 pm that night and we would not arrive in Vegas until 3:00 pm on Monday.  We would've lost two days of travel because we were supposed to be coming back home on Thursday.  We are so bummed about our trip being canceled and I thought this would have been an easy trip.  I'm usually an over-packer and I even fit everything into my carry-on luggage and a backpack.  I am seriously thinking that airplane travel during the summer months is not such a good idea.  In the future, we might take a car trip somewhere during the summer months.

Have you had any vacation problems this summer?

What is new with you lately?

Currently - July

July 5, 2023

Hello friends and happy July.

I hope you all had a nice weekend and enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July.

I'm linking up with Jennifer at Overflowing With Thankfulness for what I'm currently loving, savoring, celebrating, remembering, and trying.

This link-up is held on the first Wednesday of each month.

LOVING:  We took a day trip a few weeks ago to Greenport, LI.  We love taking day trips to get out of the city.  It was a beautiful summer day and we enjoyed walking along the street, window shopping.  We had brunch at a new to us restaurant called Alpina.  The food was delicious tasting and we enjoyed our cocktails.  I had french toast with bacon, oranges, and maple syrup and I loved my espresso martini.  My husband enjoyed his dish (I forgot what he ordered) and he had a cocktail in a cute bear jar.

SAVORING:  I am savoring the Thai food we had at a restaurant called Sage.  My husband and I enjoyed our delicious food.  I love this restaurant and it's my third time eating there.  Below you can see our food.  We enjoyed dumplings, steak and fries, and mixed seafood and vegetables.  We both had to drink Singha Thai beer.

CELEBRATING:  We just got done celebrating the 4th of July.  We had a bbq at home and then we watched the fire works on TV.

REMEMBERING:  I am remembering last year how we enjoyed going to the beach.  I'm looking forward to spending July and August at the beach.  We like getting to the beach in the morning.  I always pack sandwiches for lunch, fruit, chips, and a lot of drinks.  I love spending the day swimming and reading magazines or books.

TRYING:  We are trying to take day trips to different places this summer.  We enjoyed our recent day trip to Greenport, LI.

What is currently new with you?

Monthly Musings - June

June 29, 2023

I'm joining Holly and Patty for their Monthly Musings.

We will be answering questions on the topic:  Summer-Fun Vacations, Trips and Adventures.

Here are the questions:

1.  Favorite Vacation Destinations?  My favorite vacation destinations are the Bahamas and we stay at the Atlantis.  We also love going to the Jersey Shore.

2.  Best Packing Tips?  I like using packing cubes to pack my clothes in a suitcase.  I bought many years ago these packing cubes on Amazon.

3.  Road Trips or Fly?  I like both types of vacations.

4.  Favorite Vacation Memory as a Child?  We used to go camping at the beach when we were little with our cousins.  We would go swimming every day and then in the evening, we toast would marshmallows.  Our families slept in tents and sleeping bags.  We all had so much fun on those vacations.

5.  Ocean, Lake, or Mountains?  I would say ocean vacation be it the Jersey Shore or the Hamptons.

6.  Campout or Indoor Grill?  I would love a campout at the beach.

7.  Favorite Summer Cocktail or Mocktail?  My favorite summer cocktail is an Aperol Spritz.

8.  Most Amazing Travel Upgrade Story?  Many years ago when we were first married we took a trip to Japan and we were upgraded to Business Class.  It was nice to have legroom and all of the food was served on china.  It made the long flight enjoyable.

9.  Ice Cream or Popsicle?  I love ice cream.

10.  Do You Camp?  No.  I only went camping at the beach when I was little.  I don't like anything creepy crawly and I don't like sleeping in a sleeping bag.

Holly and Patty, I enjoyed answering your questions about Summer Fun - Vacay, Trips, and Adventures.  I look forward to next month's topic - Summer Fashion.

Friday Favorites - Middle of June 2023

June 16, 2023

Hello friends.  I hope you all had a nice week.  I can't believe that it's already the middle of June.  I am looking forward to enjoying the summer.

We had a few days last week with bad air quality due to the fires in Canada.  One night I took a picture of the sky.  The sky looked so gray.  I'm happy that the air quality was much better this week.

I have romaine lettuce growing and it was ready to be picked.  My husband and I shared a salad this week.

On my walk to the gym this week I saw these pretty flowers.

I made a quick shopping trip to Costco this week.  I needed lettuce, veggies, and fruit.  I spotted this pack of Scrub Daddy sponges.  My daughter turned me onto these sponges.  I love using one in the kitchen for cleaning pots and pans.  I also love using these sponges to scrub down my shower walls.

Have you ever used a Scrub Daddy sponge?

On my last shopping trip to Trader Joe's I picked up this facial sunscreen.  I love using this sunscreen on my face before I apply my makeup.  This sunscreen is perfect to use during the summer months.

My blog friend Heather loves shopping at Trader Joe's.  You can click here to see her recent shopping haul.

Have you tried this sunscreen yet?  It's supposed to be compared to Super Goop.

I hope you have a happy Friday and weekend!
