Hi friends. I just wanted to update you on the crochet lap blanket that I've been working on for the winter. In case you missed the post I did of this lap blanket I'm making, and the details for the yarn, and pattern, you can click HERE.
Shown below is how much progress I've made on the blanket.
Thanks everyone and enjoy!

Shown below is how much progress I've made on the blanket.
I'm more that half way finished crocheting this blanket, and I just need to finish a small section of it. It will be donated to our annual crochet sale that we will have at my church in the fall.
I will be so happy to have this lap blanket all finished and then I'll be on to more crochet projects of course.
Do you have any fun, and crafty projects that you are working on right now?
Wishing you all a nice weekend and see on Monday for Cooking and Crafting with J & J!

I took this photo when I was in lower Manhattan in the beginning of last summer 2015. We were visiting the Wall Street area. I captured this shot of Trinity Church in New York City. To read more about Trinity Church you can click HERE. The day that we went to visit this area, it was a cloudy and rainy day. This is a wonderful area of New York City to visit, sightsee, and explore. I do hope that you have the chance to visit it someday.

Hello friends, I hope you had a nice week. With the weather so cold here, there is nothing that beats the winter chill like a bowl of hot soup. Delicious hot soup just warms you up, and I have this easy crock pot soup recipe to share with you.
Here it is cooking away in the crock pot.
In just a few hours you will have this hearty soup done and waiting for you. This is the perfect weeknight or weekend meal. All you need is some bread and a salad and you have an easy dinner. This makes a very large batch and I had it for lunch the next day. You can also save this for another meal and put it into a container to freeze.
PASTA KALE AND WHITE BEAN SOUP
Serves 8 to 10 people
Ingredients:
4 cups kale - chopped, fresh or frozen
1 package dried navy beans - rinsed with water
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1/2 lb. small pasta - I used Anelli Sicilani - (you can use any small pasta you like)
1 chicken bouillon cube
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 - 8 oz. can tomato sauce
9 cups of water
Directions:
Add everything to the crock pot except the pasta. Put setting on crock pot to HIGH and cook for about 6 hours. About a half hour before soup is done, add the pasta to the crock pot and cook until pasta is done.
Enjoy!

I took this photo all the way back in September of 2015, when my family and I were in New York City. This is a photo of the Empire State Building on a rainy night. I remember just loving the way the buildings and everything looked with all of the lights just glowing in the dark. I thought it looked amazing with the clouds and the top of the Empire State Building all lit up. To read more about the Empire State Building you can click HERE.

This is a photo I took, while I was looking outside my dinning room window when we had the blizzard. It started snowing on January 22, 2016 until the 24th. We had so much snow that it's total was 26 inches (2 feet). There was so much snow outside that it came all the way up to the top of the car tires. I love the way the snow drifts look. We were so lucky that the snow melted within a few days. Since then we had another small snow storm in total of 3 inches of snow. This week we have also had a few snow flurries but no accumulation of snow.
Have you had any snow in your area this winter?
Thanks everyone and enjoy!

Hi friends, today I'm joining Amy from Love Made My Home for her Five on Friday series.
Today I'm sharing five things I would like to take the time to catch up with.
1) MAGAZINES - I love reading magazines and I have so many that I need to catch up with. I have been so busy these past few weeks with getting ready for the holidays and then taking down all of the Christmas decorations and packing them away. I just have not had the time to sit and read or the ambition. I would like to find some time to relax and do this.
2) CROCHETING - I love crocheting, but I want to be more motivated and inspired to work on different projects and stick to it. I sometimes start working on something and then I loose interest or get too busy or I'm just too tired to crochet. The crochet lap blanket that I'm currently working on is half way finished.
3) ORGANIZE - I want to focus on organizing some areas of my house. I have a guest room that we do not use too often that needs to be organized. I tend to use this room as a storage room, wrap Christmas presents in, and to dump everything else that I'm not using in. I want to straighten other areas of my house too. I think wintertime is perfect for organizing since we are not outside that much.
4) BOOKS - I have not read a book that I have enjoyed reading in a long time. I am happy to report that yesterday I was invited over to my friends house and she had so many mystery books for me to choose from to read. I picked out Mean Streak by Sandra Brown and three more mystery books. We then had tea and cake and I had a lovely afternoon. I was so excited yesterday that I read three chapters in the book already. I am happy to be back reading again.
5) MEAL PLANNING - Now, I love cooking different recipes, and I get excited when I find a new one that I like, but I'm terrible with meal planning. I sometimes wait all the way until the late afternoon to decide what to make for dinner. I want to try and plan a few meals to make for dinner during the week. Then I need to make sure I have all of the ingredients to make those dishes.
Thanks for stopping by and listening to my Five on Friday. Please visit Amy at Love Made My Home for her Five on Friday series and to see what other bloggers will be linking up.
Wising you all a wonderful day and weekend.

Hello friends, I hope you are all having a nice week. Have any of you ever tried eating a macaron before? Well I love them and they are one of my favorites. They are small pastries that are in the shape of a small round colorful cake, with a cream filling in the middle of the cake, and they come in many different flavors and colors. I love how pretty they look and they taste amazing.
Over the holidays I was surprised with a small box of them, shown below, made from the bakery Laduree. Laduree is a Parisian tea salon that began as a bakery in 1862 in Paris, France, and has many locations all over the world. They have two locations in New York City, one in Soho that has a restaurant, and the other location is a shop on the upper east side of manhattan, that sells macarons and pastries.

Macarons are available in many different stores and bakeries such as Laduree, Whole Foods, Amazon, and Dana's Bakery in New York City. I have had the macarons from Dana's Bakery and they taste really good and they just melt in your mouth. The macarons from Dana's Bakery taste just as good as the ones from Laduree. I have seen them also available in Trader Joe's and Costco. Macarons are such a popular trend right now that you don't want to miss.
A box of macarons would also make the perfect gift for Valentine's Day.
I would love to try and bake them sometime, but I think it's a very involved process, so I'd rather just buy them to enjoy eating instead. Have you ever had a macaron before or baked your own?
Thanks for stopping by and see all you at the end of the week.
