Week 22 - Gel Manicures
Hello friends! I'm back with my Makeup Monday Series and welcome to Week 22. I recently had a gel manicure because I had a few special functions I was attending and I wanted my nails to look good. I love the way a gel manicure looks and it lasted beautifully for about 2 weeks without any chips on my nails. On my right hand I have one chip on the tip of my middle finger and it's day 18. Its almost 3 weeks now since I had my manicure! The nail salon had so many colors to choose from and the whole process was fast. What I liked was at my nail salon they have a cloth glove to wear while putting your hand under the UV lights.
Would I get a gel manicure again? The answer is yes but only for a special occasion. I would not get it done regularly. The cost of the manicure at my nail salon was $30 too.
What are the negative aspects of a gel manicure?
1. UV lights
2. The gel polish they use
3. It may cause infections
4. First time use may thin nails by 50%
5. Removal of gel polish
To remove the gel polish you have to use acetone nail polish remover and pour it on a cotton ball and apply to your nails and then wrap in aluminum foil and wait at least 15 minutes. Then rub off the all the polish from each fingernail. Next you need to scrap off all of the polish and what is left on the nails. Acetone nail polish remover can really dry out your nails too. Click HERE to see a tutorial I found on how to remove the gel polish.
Have you ever gotten a gel manicure and did you like it?
I hope I may have helped you decide if you would like to try a gel manicure.
Thanks so much for stopping by Makeup Monday and in case you missed any posts you can click HERE. See you all next time.
Thanks everyone and Enjoy!

We recently had grilled chicken for dinner and I'd love to share with you the marinade I made. This marinade is so easy to make and makes the chicken taste really moist and delicious. You can marinate it overnight for a really great flavor.
GREEK MARINADE
GREEK MARINADE
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 cup fresh lemon juice
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup oregano or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
Combine all the ingredients in a jar and shake well. Makes enough to marinate 2 to 3 pounds of chicken or fish. Makes about 2 cups.
* I saw this recipe in the newspaper last week and tweaked it a little. The recipe calls for fresh oregano and parsley but I used them dried. It also called for 2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes, but I used just 1 teaspoon.
Wishing you all a nice weekend and see you next week. Happy Summer!
Here is a box of donuts we had the other day from Dunkin' Donuts! I had such a craving and they were so good!
Thanks everyone and Enjoy!

Week 21 - Makeup Tips and Tools
Hello friends and welcome to week 21 of my Makeup Monday Series. Today I'm going to talk about two simple makeup tips.
1. Using a white pencil to line the bottom waterline of your eyes will make your eyes look bigger and appear more awake.
Here is a white pencil that I like to use by Avon in the color vanilla #B02.
2. Using an eyelash curler before you apply mascara will make give the illusion of bigger and longer eyelashes.
This eyelash curler is from Sephora and I love the way it works. To see the link for this eyelash curler click HERE and the cost of this curler is $17.00.

Hi friends, I finally finished crocheting the border for the crocheted granny square blanket. Here is what the blanket looks like laid out on the floor.
For the final border on the blanket I half double crocheted all the around the blanket. I kept the border simple and I love the way the blanket and border looks.
In case you missed the post on the pattern and yarn I used for this project you can find it HERE.
I really enjoyed working on this blanket and it feels good to be finally finished with it. I will be donating this blanket that I made to the Christmas Fair that we have at our church. I hope I may have maybe inspired you to crochet or knit something.
Thanks for stopping by and wishing you all a wonderful weekend. See you all next week.
Thanks everyone and Enjoy!

Makeup Monday - Week 20 - Finding the Perfect Blush
Hi friends and welcome to Week 20 of my Makeup Monday Series. I was on a quest to find the perfect new blush as I have been using the same blush for so many years. It's been so many years that I have been using the same blush and color that I can't even remember how many years! I looked on Pinterest and a lot of beauty bloggers claim that NARS Blush in the color Orgasm is the perfect blush.
Here is the new blush that I purchased NARS in the color Orgasm at Sephora.
Here is a photo of the old blush that I had been using - CoverGirl 590 Soft Mink.
I have been using the NARS blush and I like the color, it's a peachy color with a little added shimmer. When you apply a light application it delivers a natural looking flush and color. This is a splurge buy because it costs about $30 and to see the link for it click HERE. I do like this blush and would recommend it.
If you have a favorite blush that you use and like, what is it?
Thanks everyone for stopping by and see you all here next Monday for Makeup Monday. In case you missed any posts you can find them HERE.

How would you like an easy recipe to make Green Bean Potato Salad for your next dinner or BBQ?
Well, I have an easy recipe that tastes great and can be made fast. I make this during the spring and summer months and my family loves this dish.
JULIE'S GREEN BEAN POTATO SALAD
2 14.5 oz. cans string beans - drained
7 red potatoes - cut up small and microwaved
small amount of red onion - chopped
2 to 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Add cut up potatoes and put into a microwaveable bowl with one tablespoon of water. Put the potatoes on potato setting in the microwave and cook until done. Let potatoes cool. Put in a large bowl 2 cans of drained string beans, potatoes, red onion, salt and pepper, vinegar, and olive oil. Mix everything together. Done.
Enjoy!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
