Welcome to Makeup Monday on Julie's Lifestyle. I will post about a certain type of makeup, nail polish, face or hair product etc. It will be a fun place to come visit about anything to do with beauty.
Week 34 - Nail Art
Week 34 - Nail Art
Hi friends, nail art is all the rage and there are so many different designs that are popular. There so many different companies making bright colored nail polishes such as the aqua and navy nail polish as shown above.
I love wearing bright colored nail polish in the summer and when I'm wearing opened toed sandals or flip flops. I love wearing a little bit of sparkle on both of my ring fingers. It's a pretty look and does not look too over the top for me. Spring and summer are the perfect time to try out different styles.
I have a few blog friends that are very talented at painting their nails and doing nail art.
There is T'onna from Navy Wifey Peters Aboard the USS Crafty.
There is the talented Liz from Rose Vignettes and she posts on her blog Manicure Monday and you don't want to miss that!
There is a popular product out now called Jamberry Nails and Kim from Exquisitely Unremarkable did a wonderful blog post about them. They are nail wraps and no polish is involved which is perfect if you don't like the smell of nail polish.
I hope you enjoyed Makeup Monday today. Have you ever had a nail art manicure or pedicure? I did during the holiday's when I had a gel manicure. I had them add sparkle on my ring fingers. (Next time I will make sure I take a photo to show you).
Thanks for stopping by and see you all next time for Makeup Monday.
I am happy to be joining Amy from Love Made My Home for her Five on Friday Series.
I'm taking five minutes of my day to share five things:
1) I love looking at magazines occasionally and I have a new one that I'm trying out. It's called REAL SIMPLE Life Made Easier. I really like the articles they share and it has a little bit of everything such as makeup, fashion and recipes to name a few. This is my way of relaxing a little bit during the day or evening.
3) I love going to the book store and looking at all the various non fiction and fiction books out at Barnes & Noble Book Store. I used to read all the time and then stopped once I started crocheting, knitting, and blogging. I decided last summer to get back into reading books again and I'm so glad that I did. I love the books that my blog friends recommend to read too.
4) I love going out to eat at different restaurants and here I have a crab hand roll that I had for lunch that was just amazing.
5) One of my favorite things is bright colored cotton yarn. I am in love with this cotton hemp yarn from Martha Stewart Crafts and it's by Lion Brand Yarn. This color yarn is called Heather Flower. I love making crocheted dishcloths and cup cozies with this cotton yarn. Using bright colored yarn makes me happy.
I will be sharing this with Amy from Love Made My Home for her Five on Friday link party that she is hosting.

I recently just finished reading the book Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy. I'd love to share with you a little bit about this book.
Nights of Rain and Stars is the story about how one summer four strangers with nothing in common all take a trip to a little seaside village in Greece. When a sudden tragedy strikes the small village the four strangers are all thrown together and become friends. It then goes into their lives and how the trip heals them from their past and what they were running away from and why then ended up in Greece.
I do not want to give away the whole story but I would recommend this lovely book. To read more about this book you can click HERE.

Week 33 - Discontinued Makeup
Have you ever bought makeup and really loved it and then discovered that it's discontinued?
Have you ever bought makeup and really loved it and then discovered that it's discontinued?
Well that is what happened to me last fall when I discovered this lipstick on the left called Nude Delight 642 by RIMMEL! This lipstick was recommended by one of my Instagram buddies when she showed a photo of it and I loved it so much I had to buy it. I fell in love with this lipstick and thought it looked great on me. When I was almost finished and you can tell by the photo on the left, I went searching at so many stores for this same color and could not find it.
My dilemma was what am I going to do now? Well I just went with the lipstick to the drug store and bought a similar looking lipstick color and same brand that matches. My lovely daughter saw this new color that I bought and she too fell in love with it. It's called Notting Hill Nude 720 by RIMMEL.
When this situation happens all you have to do is is try and match up the color with a color that looks the same or similar. I do hope this tip was helpful.
This lipstick is a nude color and last year nudes were all the rage and I still love light colors for day time. When I tried on the lipstick without lipliner I thought it did not look good on me, so I used lipliner. I thought it looked much better on me that way. Do you ever play around with your makeup? I love doing that and it's alway good to experiment a little.
Have you ever experienced a situation with discontinued makeup?
By the way friends, I'm on Instagram, so if you are on Instagram come follow along HERE. You can see some behind the scene photos from Julie's Lifestyle.
Thanks for stopping by and see you all next time for Makeup Monday.
Thanks everyone and Enjoy!

Hi friends, I do love reading books and I'd love to share with you a book that I read last year. It's called Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah.
This book was recommended for me to read by my daughter who had to read this book for school. I'm so glad that she suggested I read this book because I totally enjoyed it and it's a true story.
This book is a memoir of an unwanted daughter from a wealthy Chinese family taken place back in the 1940s. This is the sad story of how she was treated by her own family after her mother dies giving birth to her.
I would recommend this book and you can read more about it HERE. I hope I have inspired you to add this to your book reading list.
What are you reading right now?
Julie
