Friday Favorites - End of September

September 27, 2019

Hello blog friends and Happy Friday.

I am sharing my end of September Friday Favorites!

1.  Is Bosco Sneaking into Luggage?

Is Bosco trying to sneak into college girls luggage?  I know he misses her very much.  🐶

2.  Loving this Fall Sign

I bought this cute fall sign back in the middle of August at Dollar Tree.  I love how cute the red truck looks with the pumpkins.  I have it hanging on my china cabinet in the dining room.

3.  Signs of Fall

I have been spotting signs of fall since these acorns have been falling in my yard since the middle of August.

4.  Getting Back on Track with the Gym

I am back on a regular schedule with going to the gym now that summer is over.  I usually use my elliptical machine when I can't make it to the gym.

One morning I took a Zumba class and later, I treated myself to an egg on a roll sandwich.  I enjoyed eating the sandwich.

5. Fall Magazines

I love relaxing in the evenings and reading my fall magazines.  They are full of fall ideas such as recipes and fall decorating.

6.  Baking Pancake Muffins

I recently baked a batch of banana and raspberry pancake muffins.  Click HERE for the recipe.  These muffins are perfect for a quick breakfast.  I keep a few in the refrigerator and then the rest goes in the freezer.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a Happy Friday and weekend.

Visit to Coney Island

September 23, 2019

Hello blog friends and happy first day of fall.🍁

We recently visited Coney Island one evening at the end of August.

We all decided we wanted to have dinner at Nathan's.  It was a beautiful summer evening and perfect for sitting outside to eat hotdogs.

Luckily we found a spot at the other end of the restaurant to order our food.

We had hotdogs, french fries, chicken tenders, fried clam strips, and sodas.

After our feast, we took a stroll along the boardwalk.  I was surprised to see people still sitting on the beach.

It was the perfect evening for visiting Coney Island.

Did you do any fun field trips over the summer?

Friday Favorites - The Middle of September

September 20, 2019

Hello Blog Friends and Happy Friday!

I can't believe it's already the middle of September.  😲

1.  Lunch Date

I enjoyed another lunch date at a local cafe in our neighborhood.  This cafe makes such healthy sandwiches and this time I had a falafel sandwich with a small salad.  We shared the yummy sweet potato fries.

2.  Out Smarting the Squirrels!

The squirrels had been eating my tomatoes as seen below.  It was so frustrating to see the half-eaten tomato thrown on the ground.  I outsmarted the squirrels and picked the tomatoes before they could get to them!  Haha.

3. Unique Yard

While taking a walk in my neighborhood I spotted this front yard.  I thought it looked so interesting and cute at the same time.

4.  Cute Cat

I recently spotted this cute calico cat in my yard.  It just sat on the ledge looking at me.  :)

5.  Rice Cooker Purchase

We tested out a new mini rice cooker.  It works great and it was only $15 on Amazon.

6.  Barnes & Noble Cafe

We had our once a month meet up two weeks ago at Barnes & Noble Cafe.  I enjoy seeing my friends once a month to knit and crochet in the cafe.  I started making a crochet baby blanket a few weeks ago and this project should keep me busy for a while.

7.  The Goldfinch Movie

I read the book The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt back in March.  The book was over 700 pages long which I enjoyed reading.  I was so happy to finally see the movie last weekend.  The movie is about a young man whose troubled childhood leads him to the world of art forgery after his mother dies in a terrorist attack during his time in a museum while taking interest in a painting called the Goldfinch.  I don't want to give away anymore about the movie but it's a must see.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a happy Friday and weekend.

Sheet Pan Sausage & Peppers

September 16, 2019

Hello blog friends.

I have another easy sheet pan dinner to share with you.

This is a super easy weeknight meal that everyone is sure to love.  While the sausage and peppers were baking I made my Instant Pot White Rice.

I hope you all enjoy this dish as much as my family!

What You Need To Make This Dish:

SHEET PAN SAUSAGE & PEPPERS

INGREDIENTS:

1 package of sweet sausage - cut into small pieces
4 peppers - cleaned & cut up
olive oil
salt & pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Heat oven to 400 degrees F.  Take a large baking pan and line it with tin foil.  Spray pan with cooking spray such as PAM.  Add cut up sausage and peppers to the sheet pan.  Add on top olive oil, salt, and pepper and mix all together.  Place pan in the oven and bake for 1 hour.

A Mini Trip to the Jersey Shore

September 13, 2019

Hello blog friends.

I am excited as today is Mr. JCL's birthday and we will be going out to a restaurant to celebrate.

My husband and I took a mini-vacation in the middle of August for a few days.  I'd love to share with you our time at the Jersey Shore.

We stayed at The Island Guest House Bed & Breakfast which is located in Beach Haven, New Jersey.

We both stayed at the Inn about 27 years ago so it was nice to return.

We had a cute room with a king-size bed that came with a small bathroom and shower.

The owners run the Inn with their daughter.  It was so clean and the owners were so pleasant and accommodating.

They had a big kitchen to use for coming back from the beach for flavored water and baked goodies.

They gave us free beach badges, and a beach bag to use for the beach.  You could even ride a bike, or relax on a lounge chair.

We were greeted each morning with a different breakfast menu.  They had pancakes, eggs, hot oatmeal, blintzes, fruit, bagels, and toast.  We always ate a good breakfast.  :)

We enjoyed sitting outside to relax with our breakfast or afternoon snack.

We had beautiful beach weather on the first day we arrived.  The next few days were cloudy and we had some rain.  We always made sure we went to the beach for a few hours.

We brought with us a little cooler for our drinks and lunch on the beach.

We finally made it to The Gables restaurant.  We made sure to make reservations a few days ahead of time.  The atmosphere, food, and service were excellent.

The location of the Inn was convenient since we could walk to the beach, restaurants, and stores.

We ate dinner again at Carmen's like we did last year.

Once again the food was so good and we enjoyed our meal.  My husband ate fish and I had scallops.

It rained one day so we decided to take a drive off of Long Beach Island.  We planned to do some shopping and have dinner.

Below you can see that it rained so hard that the streets and stores were flooded with a lot of water.

We enjoyed eating dinner at IHOP which is off of the Island.  I just love having pancakes for dinner!

We enjoyed our mini-vacation at the beach.  We look forward to visiting every year and I can't wait to return next summer.

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy Friday and weekend.
