Hello blog friends. I finally finished crocheting the chonky bee pillow for my daughter. I finished the bee back in the middle of December. I'm happy that I can finally share with you this project.
My daughter and I are both happy with the way the bee pillow turned out. I bought the pattern to make the pillow from Etsy.
I bought the yellow, black, and white yarn, Gorilla Glue hot glue gun, and glue sticks online from Joanns. I bought a bag of multi-colored felt and stuffing for the bee from Amazon.
This project took me a while to make but I think the bee is so cute and it's a huge soft pillow. This was the first time I've attempted to crochet anything like this. I'm happy I challenged myself to make something fun besides crocheting a scarf.
I also crocheted a stuffed Appa for my daughter that she has on her college dorm room bed.
We added the bee under the Christmas tree with my daughter's collection of stuffed Star Wars Squishmallows.

CROCHET CHONKY BEE PILLOW!
I hope I've inspired you to crochet a bee pillow. This makes a great pillow for anyone.
My next project will be making another crochet Appa for my daughter's friend.
Are you working on any fun projects?
Over the summer my daughter bought a vegan cookbook called 1000 Vegan Recipes by Robin Robertson. The cookbook looked interesting but we didn't make any of the recipes in the book. I started looking at the recipes recently, and this one looked good and healthy. If you like broccoli rabe and beans then you are going to like this recipe. You can always make this dish with pasta or even rice. I bought some rustic homemade bread at a nearby Italian bakery to go with our meal.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did.
TUSCAN WHITE BEAN AND BROCCOLI RABE
From the Cookbook: 1,000 Vegan Recipes by Robin Robertson
Makes 4 servings
INGREDIENTS:
1 medium bunch broccoli rabe (rapini), though stems removed
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 cups cooked or 2 (15.5-ounce)cans cannellini beans or white beans, drained and rinsed
1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary
salt and freshly ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a saucepan of boiling salted water, cook the broccoli rabe until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and run under cold water, then coarsely chop. Set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in the beans and the rosemary, then add the cooked broccoli rabe and season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Cook, stirring until the flavors are well blended and the mixture is hot about 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
WHAT I CHANGED IN THE RECIPE:
- I first cut the tough ends off of the broccoli rabe and didn't use the ends in the recipe. I then chopped the rest of the broccoli rabe it in half. I then added the broccoli rabe to the boiling water.
- I added 1/4 teaspoon of hot pepper flakes.
- I left out the fresh rosemary as I didn't have any.
- I used 2 cans of cannellini beans
** You can add or leave out whatever ingredients you like for this recipe.

Hello blog friends and happy Friday!
I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite Christmas presents.
1. Fleeces
I am in love with this buffalo plaid sherpa I saw on Andrea's blog Living on Cloud Nine. This sherpa looks great on Andrea and I decided to order one from the Etsy shop Fallen Star Couture Inc. I like this sherpa and it's sure to keep me warm during these cold winter months.
We are members of BJ's and I'm in love with both of these fleece pullovers. They keep me warm and I've gotten compliments on the red and black fleece.
2. Harry Potter Sweatshirt
My daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan. When I saw my daughter wearing one of these tie-dyed sweatshirts, I knew I wanted one too. The Etsy shop is called The Marauderess. I have the brown sweatshirt that says HUFFLEPUFF on the front.
3. Sneakers
I've wanted Stan Smith Adidas sneakers for a while. I'm happy I have these floral sneakers to wear with leggings and jeans. I think they look pretty and they are so comfortable to wear.
4. Keychain
My husband wanted a new watch for Christmas. We went to the Shinola store in Tribeca, New York City to buy his watch. The store is filled with watches and leather goods. When I saw this keychain, I knew I wanted one for my handbag. I am so happy with this keychain and I have it in the color black.
5. Lululemon Yoga Mat
I am in love with my new reversible yoga mat. It's made well and you can use either side to exercise on.
6. Makeup & Face Cream
I love this makeup palette that my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas. It's the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Vol. 2. It's filled with pretty eyeshadows and blushes. I'm having fun trying out the different eye shadow colors.
I was happy when my sister-in-law gave me this mascara for Christmas. It's by Lancome and it's the Hypnose Drama Instant Volumizing Mascara. This mascara works well and I like the curved brush.
This is another gift idea I saw on Andrea's blog Living on Cloud Nine. It's the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Secrets gift set. When I saw this set, I knew I wanted one. I LOVE these lipsticks. It has a matte lipstick, lipliner, and two lipglosses. Thanks, Andrea for this Christmas gift idea.
This is a gift set that I bought for myself and I had my daughter and husband give this to me for Christmas. I wanted to try out the It Cosmetics cleanser and creams as I like their foundation. I like the way these creams moisturize my skin and makes my face feel so soft. I've always used Neutrogena Hydro Boost cream for my face. I have used this cream for years and I will go back to using that cream after I'm done with the It Cosmetics cream. I use Cetaphil Cleanser for washing my face. I will go back to using that cleanser for my face. I like that I can buy both products at Costco for a great price. I'm glad I tried out these creams but I like what I've always used.
I hope you've enjoyed looking at some of my favorite Christmas presents.
Have a happy Friday and weekend.
