October 6, 2026

Hello friends, and happy October! 🍁🍂

I'm joining Amy from the blog, Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa, for her Currently link-up.  It's held on the first Wednesday of each month.

This month we will be sharing:  Falling for, Scaring (me), Working on, Loving, and Entertaining (me).

FALLING FOR:  Happy October, friends.  It's a new month and the beginning of fall.  I love how people decorate for fall and Halloween.  Our local supermarket decorated the area with hay and pumpkins.

It's the perfect time of year for making muffins and bread.  When I see muffins like this one on Instagram, I want to bake them.  Do you have a favorite fall muffin or bread recipe that you like to bake?

SCARING ME:  I know some people like to decorate the outside of their homes with scary decorations.  It scares me when it's nighttime.  I like decorating the outside of my house with mums, pumpkins, and cute Halloween decorations.

WORKING ON:  I'm still working on switching over to fall clothes since we've had some warm days lately.  I'll be wearing a few layers.  I still have my summer flowers blooming in large stone pots in my yard, and I'll have to clean them out soon.  I'm not sure if we will be getting a lot of kids this year for Halloween as it falls on a Saturday this year.  I need to buy some Halloween candy to give out to the the kids.  I love seeing the costumes the little kids wear.

LOVING:  This summer my daughter and I saw Harry Styles when he performed at Wembley Stadium in England.  You can read about that post here.  Well, I saw him perform again last weekend with my husband at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  It's my third time seeing him and a first for my husband.  He was amazing and very entertaining.  He puts on a great show.  I was happy to wear my Harry Styles T-Shirt I bought when I was in London over the summer.  My daughter got us great seats, and now I'm such a fan of Harry.  I liked the show so much that one of our friends saw my Instagram story and I influenced her to go with her husband to see the show.  I'm very excited because I'm going to see him again next week and this time with my daughter.  It will be nice to enjoy it with her and to be in the moment and not film as much as I did at this show.

Now that it's fall and October, I like getting my nails done in darker colors.  I'm thinking of getting my nails done in a deep red color.  Like this color shown.  It's called Slip Dressed Up by OPI.

Some of you might have noticed my recent photos on Instagram @brklynhousewife of my recent trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  This was our first time visiting, and we loved it there.  We were traveling there with some of my husband's family.  I hope to write up a blog post about this trip at some point.  If you want to see more pictures of my trip, take a look on Instagram.

ENTERTAINING ME:  My husband and I belong to the Roudabout Theatre, and we'll be seeing more shows.  We love that we get great seats to the shows at a discounted price.  We just saw the show, The Imaginary Invalid, which we enjoyed and found funny and entertaining.

I sometimes forget how busy and crowded Times Square can be at times.  I do love taking photos of the area.

My husband and I have been watching shows lately such as:

East of Eden
Widows Bay
Sugar
The Paper
Ted Lasso
The Four Seasons

What are you watching, and do you have any shows to recommend?

It's been such a busy time for me this summer, and I did a lot of traveling.  I enjoyed the summer, but I'm looking forward to enjoying fall.  I'm hoping to find more time for blogging.  If you want to see more going on with me, then visit me on Instagram @brklynhousewife.

What is currently new with you?

  1. I'm a big chicken so I find scary decorations pretty frightening too-- especially at night (I'm usually fine during the day and even driving by at night it's okay but I don't want to walk up to that front door... just in case). We just started watching Ted Lasso and I am enjoying it so much!

  2. I do love this time of year! Yum to that muffin and love a bit of baking! I much prefer the cute decorations rather than the scary ones, they do look fab in the daytime though!
I do love Harry Styles! I saw him twice in concert when he was still with One Direction, I would love to see him perform solo!
It sounds like a great trip!

  3. I loved seeing your travel photos. Jackson Hole -- a spot I've never been. And of course, remembering England. I'm more like you -- a pumpkin kind of decorator. I don't mind the scary stuff but it seems like such a lot of work! More than I want to get into. And then NY! It would be fun to see the things at Roundabout. They have such a good reputation! Yes, tis the layering season in Michigan too. Sigh.

  4. I am with you on the decorations. I love soft and simple pumpkins, mums etc too. When I see those displays with the huge monsters etc. I wonder where they store all of that stuff. My granddaughter is so into Harry Styles too and I got her tickets for Christmas as a surprise gift for when he comes to Chicago. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris

  5. Julie, how fun to travel so much and see the world. I think it is fantastic you and your daughter got to see Harry Styles. Wyoming looks very interesting. I think watching those wonderful plays will be great fun. Happy shopping.

  6. Your photos from Jackson Hole looked really cool. I hope you can do a post about your trip. You've become a Harry groupie! It makes me want to go see him. When we were walking to the train on Saturday we saw lots of people posing outside of MSG for the concert. It looked so fun! My daughter saw him walking on the Williamsburg bridge. I guess a lot of people are seeing him walk around town. I decorate more for fall and not too scary. I love all things pumpkin this time of year. Those muffins sound good! I love that nail color. I have a brownish grey color on from Essie called "crochet away". You might like it too.
