Hello blog friends and Happy Friday.
I can't believe it's already the end of October and we will be approaching November.
I have my Friday Favorites - End of October Edition:
1. Crochet Project
I have another crochet project that I'm working on for my daughter. My daughter is on a roll with requests for me to crochet for her. I'm using heavy blanket yarn and a large crochet hook for this project.
2. New Boots
I ordered new boots online from Costco. They are Khombu Ladies All-Weather Booties in Black. These boots will be perfect to wear for the cold winter months with my jeans and leggings.
3. Cobb Salad
Mr. JCL and I have been eating a lot of salads lately. We did take-out salad from Sweet Green. I ordered a Cobb salad that was delicious tasting. It was packed with avocado, sweet potato, egg, blue cheese, tomatoes, red onion, nuts, and balsamic vinegar dressing.
4. Crockpot Lasagna
I recently posted on the blog a crockpot lasagna recipe I made. I was so happy to see that my blog friend Heather from Our Life In a Click made the lasagna but vegan style. This crockpot lasagna is so easy to make and you can add or leave out whatever you like.
5. Reading a Book
I recently finished reading the book Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I enjoyed reading this book and I couldn't put it down. This book is from Reese Witherspoon's Book Club. It's also available on Hulu which I hope to see soon.
6. Magazine Reading
I always enjoy reading each month my favorite magazines. I always get great recipe ideas, especially around the holidays.
7. Halloween
We always dress Bosco up in a costume for Halloween. Last year Bosco helped me greet the trick-or-treaters dressed up as a hotdog. I'm not sure if we will get any visitors this year due to Covid-19. Whatever happens, Bosco and I are ready to hand out candy to the kids on our block.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a Happy Friday.
Hello blog friends. I can't believe we are already approaching the end of October. The months seem to be flying by so fast.
The weather is starting to get cooler, so I decided to crochet an ear-warmer.
I was happy when I saw one on Maya's blog The Little Treasures. Maya crocheted an ear-warmer for her daughter and I knew I wanted to make one too. Maya is a talented crochet designer who makes beautiful items. I hope you will stop by her blog and take a look at all of her creations.
DETAILS TO MAKE CROCHET EAR-WARMER:
PATTERN: Crochet Leaf Ear-Warmer
YARN: Red Heart Boutique Treasure - Tapestry
CROCHET HOOK: K - 6.50MM
** I used a different yarn than the yarn used in the pattern. I also changed around the end of the pattern. I crocheted 8 chain stitches on each side of the ear-warmer.
Thanks, Maya for sharing your crochet creations. I enjoyed making the ear-warmer.
Let's all get creative and make something!

Hello blog friends.
Today is Bosco's 13th Birthday!
We rescued Bosco when he was only 6 months old. We found Bosco on the website Pet Finder.
My daughter saw Bosco and decided that he was the dog she wanted to adopt.
When we adopted Bosco from a house in New Jersey, Bosco wasn't his name. His name was Short Stop. We decided we didn't like the way his name sounded or flowed. I guess his foster parents liked baseball. I liked the name Bosco because it reminded me of the chocolate syrup my mom used to make us chocolate milk. I thought that Bosco sounded like a sweet name.
Poor Bosco was returned twice before we adopted him. When we adopted Bosco he was so sick. We took him to the vet and helped to get him better. He just needed some meds and tender loving care.
Bosco loves his car rides with us around town or on long car rides.
Here he is hiding underneath the dining room table. I love how he had that look like you found me, mom!
Bosco is so affectionate and he even knows when to cheer us up. He is such a pleasure and we look forward to celebrating more birthdays with him.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOSCO!

Hello blog friends.
I had the idea to bake zucchini cheddar bread when Jenna at The Painted Apron posted it on her blog back in July. I love zucchini bread and I decided to bake some when we had a friend come to visit.
Thanks, Jenna for the idea to make Zucchini Bread!
This zucchini bread is so easy to make and I had most of the ingredients already on hand.
This bread comes out light and fluffy and it's so easy to make. |
I served the zucchini bread when it came right out of the oven. This bread was so good and I was happy that everyone enjoyed it.
I hope you enjoy baking some zucchini cheddar bread for your family and friends. This bread would go great with a bowl of hot chili or soup.
** This recipe is adapted from Laughing Spatula
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups zucchini, grated
2 cups all-purpose white flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk - The author used 2%, but whole or nonfat would be fine
1 tablespoon vinegar, white or apple cider
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar
2 green onions, chopped
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and spray a 9 x 5 bread pan with nonstick spray. Wrap grated zucchini in a paper towel and squeeze until some of the liquid releases. You don't have to completely dry it out. Just a tablespoon of liquid or so. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a small bowl, combine milk and vinegar. The milk will curdle a bit (you just made buttermilk!) Mix in melted butter and eggs. Add milk mixture to the dry mixture being extra careful not to over mix. (over mixing will make for a low rising bread). Add grated zucchini, cheese, and onions. Mixing lightly until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees F. for one hour. If toothpick inserted comes out clean, bread is done. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan. Remove carefully and cool on the wire rack.
Recipe Notes:
To use buttermilk; Simply omit the milk and vinegar combination and replace it with one cup of buttermilk.
**What I changed around in the recipe:
I used Unsweetened Vanilla Almond for the milk. I used 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese. I left out the green onions. I used apple cider vinegar. With making these small changes to the recipe the bread tasted delicious and everyone loved it.
YUMMY ZUCCHINI CHEDDAR BREAD! |
Hello blog friends and Happy October!
I love decorating my mantel each year for fall. When it comes to decorating the inside of my house I'm a traditional girl. I like using the autumn colors of the leaves with orange, brown, and white on the mantel. I've been decorating my mantel this way for many years now and I never get tired of the way it looks.
The painting seen over the mantel was painted by me many years ago when I was in high school. It is a scene of a church in the woods over looking the water during the fall.
I first put on the mantel a strand of faux leaves that I purchase many years ago at a dollar store. I also added to the mantel some mini pumpkins that were purchased from the Dollar Tree store.
I also added the Happy Fall pumpkin that was also purchased at Michaels. I added to the ends on opposite sides of the mantel little fall tins from Michaels.
Next, I added these crocheted mini pumpkins that I made back in 2013 to the mantel.
I found the pattern to crochet these at the blog Repeat Crafter Me. If you would like to make these mini crochet pumpkins, you can find the pattern here.
Let's get creative and craft!

Hello blog friends and Happy Friday.
September seemed to fly by so fast I can't believe it's already the start of October.
I have my Friday Favorites - October Edition:
1. Yoga Lessons
I started taking outdoor Yoga lessons in August and I'm enjoying yoga. Doing the yoga helps me if I'm feeling stressed or anxious and it's seems to calm me down. It is also helping me stretch and strengthen my body which needs help. We will be doing the lessons outside until the weather gets cold.
2. New Yarn and Crochet Project
Here is a sneak peek at a new crochet project I started working on this week. This is another project my daughter picked out for me. This pattern I'm working on consists of working in the round, changing yarn colors, and I'm hoping this project will come out looking good. I'm having fun crocheting and working with blanket yarn.
3. New Craft Supplies
I recently ordered some new crafting supplies online from JOANN. I am excited to use my new glue gun for crafting!
4. Dunkin Snack
I was happy when I recently went to Dunkin' Donuts. I had coffee and two mini stuffed bagels for a snack. I like to treat myself every once in a while with a small treat.
5. Cookies from a Neighbor
My neighbor loves cooking delicious food and baking cookies. She recently came over and surprised my family with these delicious spice cookies. It was so nice and thoughtful of her to think of our family.
6. Taking Bosco to the Vet
I had to take Bosco to the vet this week because he kept shaking his head and scratching his ear. He has an ear infection and he will be on the medication for two weeks. Hopefully this cutie will be feeling better soon.
7. Sweater Weather
One of the things I love about fall is Sweater Weather. If you need some inspiration for sweater fashion, stop by Living on Cloud Nine and Preppy Empty Nester blogs.
Wishing you all a Happy Friday and weekend.
