Hi blog friends.
I went on a recent online shopping spree in the beginning of April at Ulta Beauty. It was while we were in quarantine due to the coronavirus.
I took advantage of Ulta's spend $15 policy to receive free shipping on my order. I'd love to share with you my haul.

1. Pravana Color Protect Shampoo
I received a small sample of this shampoo from my last Ulta Beauty haul during Christmas. In case you missed that blog post, you can read it here. I loved using this shampoo and it made my hair feel soft and helped to protect my hair color. This bottle is 11oz. and costs $19.00 and says it ensures the color to last up to 60 washes.

2. NYX Retractable Eyeliner
I bought another eyeliner in the color, Golden Olive. The price is only $5.50 and you can't beat this price point. This eyeliner glides on the eyelid easily and lasts a long time. Olive eyeliner is one of my favorite colors.

3. Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara
I received a small sample of this mascara from my Ulta Beauty haul back in December. I like the way this mascara works as it made my lashes look long, no clumping, and the mascara doesn't flake off. The price was only $7.99 a tube and the color is 231 Classic Black.
4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Treatment Concealer
This concealer is my all-time favorite and I have been using this for years. I tend to switch between different shades of this concealer depending on the time of year. During the winter months, I use a light shade and in the summer I use a darker shade. This color is 110 in the shade Fair and the price is only $9.99.
5. Milani Rose Powder Blush
I saw a review of this blush from the YouTuber Risa Does Makeup. She did a dupe video on makeup and compares this blush to Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush. I've been using Tarte blush for years and the cost is $29. I was excited when Risa compared the Tarte blush to the Milani blush. The Milani blush is only $9.49 and this color is Blossomtime Rose. This Milani blush is available at Walgreens and Walmart, and it's similar to the Tarte blush. I'm happy I saved $19.51 as that's a huge saving. I will now be using the Milani blush from now on.
This is some of my favorite makeup items and thought you might like to try one. Small things like this make me happy. 😀
Have you bought any new makeup lately? I'd love to know and tell me in the comments section.

Hello blog friends.
It's been a while since I last did a Friday Favorites post. I'd like to share with you what I'm loving right now.
1. Art Work
Every Friday Jenna from the blog The Painted Apron posts art work she does for her Fearless Friday series. Jenna sketched a bike with flowers.
I liked Jenna's sketch so much that it inspired me to try and draw it too. I used a pencil to draw out the bike and flowers. I then outlined the sketch with a thin black marker. I then used colored makers to fill in the rest of the sketch.
I enjoyed drawing the bike and this sketch reminds me of a spring day. Thanks Jenna for inspiring me to sketch!
2. Lunch at Home
While we've been sheltering in place here at home we've been taking turns making meals for each other.
My daughter made me an avocado grilled cheese sandwich for lunch which was so good and yummy.
3. Spring Flowers
I loved seeing spring flowers popping up in my garden.
4. Zoom Zumba Work Out Schedule
Since my gym has been closed during this coronavirus I have been taking Zumba classes on Zoom. Our instructors from the gym have been teaching the classes along with my gym friends. It's so much fun and we still get to dance together. This happens to be one of my highlights of the day.

5. Bosco's Spa Day
Mr. JCL and I usually bath Bosco about once a month. Bosco is such a good boy during his bath and he always smells so good. I love when his hair gets soft and fluffy.

6. Starbucks Coffee
The weather was beautiful on Sunday and we sat outside. We enjoyed the hot Starbucks coffee I made.
7. Takeout Lunch
I was so happy when Mr. JCL suggested we do takeout for lunch on Saturday. We have a Just Salad restaurant in our area and we ordered takeout salads. These salads are so good and loaded with a lot of good veggies. I had a Greek Salad that was so delicious. Our salads were so good that I forgot to take a photo of the other salads. Probably because I was hangry! LOL!

Hello blog friends.
Happy Earth Day!
Back in March, I decided I wanted to plan out my container gardening by planting vegetables and lettuce seeds.
I ordered on Amazon the seed starter kit, and some vegetable and lettuce seeds. I added to the trays dirt and seeds as seen below. The seed starter kit came with labels that I wrote out the name and placed them in each section.
Day 1 - 4/1/20 |
You can see below the growing process.
Day 1 - 4/1/20 |
I added water to each section and placed the cover on the trays with a half vent. I placed each of them in a big tray and put it on my window sill indoors where the sun shines in the afternoon.
Day 1 - 4/1/20 |
Day 6 - 4/6/20 |
Day 13 - 4/13/20 |
Day 17 - 4/17/20 |
I will soon be transferring the seeds into pots and bring them outside when the weather is warmer.
I will need to add chicken wire or something around the pots since I have a lot of squirrels that run around my yard. The squirrels love to dig up the dirt. Using the chicken wire was recommended by a neighbor. I'm hoping that this works to keep the squirrels away.
Happy Earth Day! |
Have you done any gardening lately?
Hello blog friends.
I know a lot of people now have to wear a face mask when going out to be safe from the coronavirus.
People are sewing and making face masks out of material and scarves. I thought it would be a great idea to crochet some since I don't sew.
I crocheted a few for our family and they are so easy to crochet. I made two of them in one afternoon.
I crocheted them in colorful multicolored cotton yarn.
You can use any cotton yarn that you have on hand. I liked using the multicolored yarn for the masks and thought they looked so cute. If you have solid colored yarn you can use that too.
Have fun making these crocheted masks!

Hello blog friends.
This will be the first Easter that we will not be celebrating and visiting with family due to the coronavirus. I know this is the case for everyone right now. We will make the best of this situation and enjoy a nice day together.

Hello blog friends.
I shared last week here the new yarn I bought from Michaels. While we've been in quarantine due to the coronavirus, I managed to crochet an infinity scarf.
I'd love to share the details on how to crochet your own scarf.

Hello blog friends.
Happy April and April Fools Day!
Happy April and April Fools Day!
It's been a while since I've bought some new yarn. I'd love to share with you my new haul.
I went shopping in the Michael's store last month (when it was safe to shop). I bought four skeins of Caron Latte Cakes yarn. The yarn was regularly priced at $9.99 a skein, and I got mine on clearance for $2.97 a skein. 🧶
The yarn comes in 15 different colors. Below are the four skeins of yarn I bought.
I was so excited to get started working on a project with my new yarn.
I started the knit scarf using size US 11 knitting needles and cast on 20 stitches. I made a ribbing of Knit 2, Purl 2 for each row and the yarn is ROSE-SCENTED.
UPDATE: I ripped out the knitted scarf three times because I didn't like the way the scarf was coming out. I decided to crochet the scarf instead. Crocheting with yarn comes out so much faster than knitting. When I crochet it doesn't make my wrist hurt for some reason as it does with knitting.
In the photos below, you can see how I started the crochet scarf. I can't wait to see how the color pattern will look. :)
I used a US size K crochet hook and crocheted the half double crochet stitch.
I will have the details soon and the pattern to crochet your own scarf.
Have you bought any new yarn lately? Are you working on any new knit or crochet projects?
