Hi friends, I hope you all had a nice weekend. Our area was dumped with 26 inches of SNOW!! Way too snow much for me. We spent most of Sunday shoveling all of the snow. Unfortunately, I don't think this snow will be melting anytime soon. It was a great time for me to catch up on a little bit of crocheting.
Well, back in October I started working on this new crochet blanket and then I stopped. I didn't really have time or the ambition to continue working on it, as I was so busy during the holidays. My plan is to have this blanket made and finished for our annual Fall/Christmas Sale that we will have at my church for this fall.
I worked a little more on this blanket back in November but not too much progress had been made. What I have promised myself is that I will work on the blanket a little bit each day or night throughout the winter. Each colored section is 5 rows and I did about 15 rows the other day.
I love crocheting during the evening when the weather gets cold and I'm watching TV. It's an easy way for me to be creative, keep busy, and it's a great stress reliever.
The yarn I'm using was given to me to use by the person that runs our crochet group at my church. I just love the colors of the yarn, purple, green, and multi color, and I think this color combo will create a nice looking blanket.
Crochet Hook - US size H
Green yarn is by Red Heart - Frosty Green
Purple yarn is by Loops & Threads - Lavender
Multi yarn is by Loops & Threads - Fresh Lilac
For the pattern, I found it on Pinterest HERE. I made my chain of 90, and then I followed the rest of the directions for the pattern.
Do you have any winter projects that you are working on right now?
Thanks everyone and enjoy!
Julie

ReplyDeleteI love those colors Julie!! I recently added a blog to my blog roll called Small Things. Ginny is a homeschooling mama who dyes her own yarns!! And her knitted pieces are just gorgeous. It is making me want to learn to knit.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a very pretty blanket. Those colours go well together.
ReplyDeleteLovely, Julie and the colors are perfect...makes me think of spring amid the mounds of snow!
ReplyDeleteWe got a little dusting of snow. I don't think I could handle that much snow. Being snowed in is the perfect time to catch up on crochet. I think your blanket will grow quite a bit.

Really pretty, Julie. I've always loved purple and green together. It's amazing to me that you got so much more snow than we did, and I'm only 20 miles north! Wishing for warm days to melt it all!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you weathered the storm okay, and had time to work on your beautiful purple lap blanket! All our snow is melting here... so spring should soon be on its way. :)

I'm working on a blanket for one of my daughters and two more blankets for two of my granddaughters. Plus a couple of smaller projects I hope to finish this week and share on my blog.

Purple and green are a great combination, and this is already looking wonderful Julie! I guess I've been away for a bit (catching up these last few days), and see you have a fresh new look to your blog ... looks great, and so does your new profile pic!

This is really lovely, I like the colours you are using. Thanks for the link, might just have a look :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the colour combination, the resulting pattern reminds me of flowers in the garden. Currently I don't have any winter project on my needles and this might serve as inspiration for a new blanket, why not? :-)
ReplyDeleteRegards from Spain ♥
Pretty! Love the colors, you have made me want to start again on my crochet blanket (I started last winter). Now to just remember where I stored it :)
ReplyDeletePretty blanket, Julie. I love the colors. Right now I am working on a knit sweater with various red yarns I had left from other projects and I am mixing in some white - hoping to get it done before Valentines Day so I can wear it - also hoping it won't be too warm since we have been having temps in the 70's the past couple days - we'll see.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to crochet and knit...as did my Mimi. Both grandmothers tried teaching me but I never quite had a hand for it. I do love big fluffy crocheted blankets. I usually find them second hand.

How pretty! I love the colors. It must be very relaxing to work on. I will have to look up that pattern. I have two crochet UFOs that I would love to finish this year -- a throw in a pretty pattern and sort of a frosted aqua color, and a scrap afghan made with many colors and several different motifs. Thanks for the inspiration!
