Bosco in Reindeer Ears & More

January 5, 2016

I just had to share with you this funny photo I took of my dog Bosco over the holidays.  Every year I get out the boxes of Christmas decorations and pull out the reindeer antlers.   I usually wear them to get a laugh from everyone, but one day I decided to put them on Bosco instead.  I love being silly sometimes, as the holidays can be a little bit on the stressful side.  Bosco was so patient with me and he even let me wrap him up in his knitted blanket.  We all had such a good laugh that day.

If you follow me on Instagram then you would have seen this cute photo of Bosco.  I would love to have you join and follow me there to see some more photos I like to post! :)

Anyways I'm a little sad to see the holidays are already over, as I felt like the season went way too fast.  I enjoyed visiting with both sides of our family, but we had to do a lot of traveling to accomplish that.  I was so exhausted for a few days after Christmas.  I rested a lot during that time and enjoyed watching some Christmas movies.  Now that Christmas is over I have been taking down all of the decorations.  I have boxes scattered all over the house that need to be put away and organized.

Have you noticed anything different with my blog?  Yes, I have a new blog look.  I wanted a new blog look for a while and I finally decided to update the look with something fresh and new.  I hope you all enjoy it as I am still getting used to it.

There also seems to be a new change with Google Friend Connect that I wanted to let some of you know about if you haven't already heard.  I recently lost a small amount of followers from GFC, and I was so upset about it, as I thought it was because of me.  Well that was not the case, and here is what will happen with Google Friend Connect:

In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.

As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.

We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.

I hope that this will help explain some of the changes that will be happening with google.  There are other ways of following my blog, such as Bloglovin, and by email, and you can find them on my sidebar.

I usually do not do a new word for the new year, but this year I decided to join the trend.  My new word for this year is POSITIVE and that is what I'm going to strive to be.

Do any of you watch the British soap Downton Abbey?  Well, I absolutely love watching it.  The tv show started Sunday night for it's 6th and last season.  I started watching the show a little late in it's 3rd season and I'm totally hooked on it.  I enjoyed looking at all of the fashion and hairstyles of the women.  The characters I like best are Lady Mary Crawley and Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet.  Do you have a favorite character?  Well you'll know where to find me on Sunday nights.  LOL!

Well that is basically a little recap of what has been happening with me.  This week it's back to the same old routine.  I am happy to start back to my Tuesday crochet group meeting and my once a month crochet group get together.  I'm looking forward to this as it will help me get my crochet mojo back.  I haven't crocheted anything since the end of November.

Thanks for stopping by and I will have a recipe to share with you at the end of the week.

Thanks everyone and enjoy!

  1. Not sure which is funnier, Boscos ears or the scarf around his neck. This is cute and made me giggle this morning. I love your new blog look. New Year, New Look. I have changed the colors on my blog but found that when I change the style, it messes up all my past post. Thanks for the bit of info about Google. Have a great week.

  4. I like the new look. I am always afraid to piddle with my blog afraid of goofing something up. I really would like to have a blog designer re do it for me but that might cost a pretty penny for something that is just a hobby. And that Google...they are getting too big for their britches as we say here in the south.

  8. I love Downton Abbey and I'm really going to miss it! Both girls were home to watch it with me this week. I don't think that will happen again this season. :( That photo of Rosco is too cute. He's a trooper!! We took down our live tree yesterday and I got another tree down also. I wasn't planning to start until this coming weekend so we're a little ahead of the game.

  11. Julie, we could be TWINSIES! I never miss an episode of Downton Abbey. I watched it the first season when no one barely knew about it. LOL Bosco is the cutest! I always love it when you post pictures of him. I LOVE your new blog layout Julie!!! It looks so good and what a fabulous profile pic. I'm so glad you explained what was going on with GFC! I lost a lot of people also and just thought they were cleaning up their follow list. So good to know.

  12. My dear Julie, I am in love with your new blog design! Oh, it's so fresh and lovely :) And your profile picture is stunning :)

Thank you for explaining about GFC. I, too, lost about 25 - 30 followers and at first I also thought it was because of me. I think it's simply awful that this happened, but alas, that is the way of things....everything has to change :)

Your word POSITIVE is perfect! Hugs to you!

  13. I love your new blog look Julie! Looks great! Did you do this yourself? I haven't watched Downton Abbey but my mom loves it. I need to buy the seasons and watch them sometime. I like your word positive! Perfect for the new year. I haven't picked one... I've been sick and my words lately have been, I will live :) I'm feeling better now but not a good way to start the year. A lot of people seemed to have had a bug lately. Anyway, I look forward to following along this year and I can't wait to see what you're up to :) Happy New Year!

  14. LOVE the new look! Like you said in your comment on mine, we must have done this the same time! Great minds and all that. I have seen series 6 and the Christmas special and I won't give anything away, don't worry. Enjoy!! My family will personally be glad to see the back of it as I just kept shouting out "I've sat there!", "I've been in that room!", "I've walked down the stairs!". It's driving them crazy. I'm waiting to see what happens on the 11th and then react from then. I wish Google would leave things alone. Take care my friend xxx

  15. Bosco is so cute isn't he! I love Downton and enjoyed the last series - which I hope you are enjoying too. The Dowager Countess is my favourite character, I love the way she is so rude and gets away with it! Makes me laugh! xx

  21. Your new blog look is fabulous, Julie! So funny, I just found a site earlier tonight for blog templates, and wonder if it's the same that you used. I'll email you. Bosco is adorable in his reindeer ears. He seems to have the same temperament as my Sadie, who will put up with anything. I was not aware of the Google Friend Connect issue - thanks for the info!
