Hi friends, I would love to share with you this beautiful sweater my mom made for me. In the summer my mom said that she wanted to knit a sweater for me and I had fun picking out the yarn that she would use. I picked out the yarn and it is called Noro, Taiyo Col No. 7, Lot No. C. My mom and I found the pattern together and it's called #285 Pure & Simple Neck Down Swing Coat by Diane Soucy. If you are on Ravelry you can find the pattern there. The sweater is a swing coat and it's perfect for wearing in this cold weather that we are having right now.
The black buttons my mom used on the sweater are antique and I love the way it looks.
On the inside of the sweater near the neck my mom sewed in this cute label.
You can see here the label inside the sweater near the top of the neck and the pretty buttons.
Looking at the sweater you can see the different effects that the yarn has made. The yarn has made a stripe effect with many multi colors. I love that this sweater will go with anything I wear, either a top underneath the sweater or with any colored pants or jeans.
My mom gave me this sweater in November and I love wearing it. I have already gotten a lot of use out of wearing it due to the very cold weather we are having right now. Thanks so much mom for making this beautiful sweater for me, I just love it.
I think that this is how I became inspired to learn how to knit and crochet from my moms love of knitting. My mom learned to knit when she was only 11 years old by an aunt. Since then my mom has made so many wonderful creations such as socks, scarves, and sweaters. My mom also made for me a beautiful knitted felted handbag and you can see that here. I think that my mom is really talented and creative and I just love that.
My mom and aunt Mary taught me how to knit one summer in 2009 and I also took a class at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio. The Lion Brand Yarn Studio gives lessons in knitting and crocheting and the classes are small and you get the one on one attention that is so vital in learning a craft.
I hope I may have inspired you in some way to take a class in knitting or crocheting if you want to learn a new craft. It's so much fun once you learn either one.
Have a nice weekend everyone and see you on Monday for my Makeup Monday Series.
Thanks everyone and Enjoy!
Julie
Moms take such good care of us, don't they? I just love it when my mom gives me hand made things. I treasure it so much more. You're sweater is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMother's are the best! :) The sweater your mom made you is so pretty and the colors make me smile. Happy weekend, my friend!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful sweater Julie, I love the style and I love the colours, you are very lucky to have such a talented mum to make you lovely things, both you and your mum have a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can tell a lot of work went into that sweater, and I love it!! Big kudos to your mom for being so thoughtful, and that label is rocking cute!!
ReplyDeleteMy gram knit too, and she made me, my mom, and each of my kids (except the youngest) the same kind of gorgeous blanket (baby size, for the babies) with such a pretty pointed/sculptured border. Those are prized possessions for all of us. :)
It's a beautiful sweater. Things made with love by moms are always the best!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sweater! Your mother is so kind and thoughtful for making you a sweater. My mom knits me scarves and I love them to pieces, lol :)
ReplyDeleteBtw I just stumbled across your blog, lol. Your blog header is super cute! :)

Julie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sweater and such a thoughtful, caring gift from your sweet and talented mother! Yes, I can see what an inspiration she must be to you. Kudos to you for learning how to knit so well, also, as I've seen many of your own pretty projects!
Have a lovely weekend!
Poppy
PS: Love the label inside your sweater; sooooooooooooo charming!!:))
What a gorgeous hand knit sweater!! I think it's really nice that you and your mom planned it together. It's so nice to receive something knit by your own mom :) I still treasure the scarves & mittens my mom made for me (she made sweaters when I was much younger but I can't fit into them anymore). It's great that you learned to knit now too ... never too late! Have a great weekend Julie :) Wendy x

Love the sweater and the tag! I really want to learn how to knit, I crochet but there are certain things that I just prefer the look of knit, so I really need to get around to teaching myself! Thanks for linking up at the MaMade Blog Hop! I hope you're having a great weekend! :)
