Hello blog friends.
I know a lot of people now have to wear a face mask when going out to be safe from the coronavirus.
People are sewing and making face masks out of material and scarves. I thought it would be a great idea to crochet some since I don't sew.
I crocheted a few for our family and they are so easy to crochet. I made two of them in one afternoon.
I crocheted them in colorful multicolored cotton yarn.
You can use any cotton yarn that you have on hand. I liked using the multicolored yarn for the masks and thought they looked so cute. If you have solid colored yarn you can use that too.
Have fun making these crocheted masks!

So cute! Hope you had a happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea for the blog visit and your comment on the face mask. Yes, we had a nice Easter considering our situation we are all going through.
DeleteThese are cute and clever Julie!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of those but how creative. People are finding all kinds of ways to help and get the things we need. Take care this week and stay safe! I'm praying for you. I know you live in a part of the country that is hard hit. Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHi, What a good idea, You could also use a coffee filter behind it for added protection, just use a small safety pin to secure it or even a small piece of T-shirt material!
ReplyDeleteHave a great new week!
Hugs, Roxy
Thanks Roxy for your blog visit. I will add into the back a coffee filter or maybe a paper towel folded up. We are using these and bandanas. Have a nice week and stay safe.
DeleteSo pretty Julie and creative. Definitely designer styling. Have a wonderful week. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI sewed mine! At a point, there was a shortage of them here and I had to do something. I know they cannot replace medical masks, but they are washable, reusable and best of all you can steam iron them for security. I didn't crochet any.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Julie, and I like the comments about using a coffee filter behind the crocheted version. I hope you had a Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to share this with my mom. She loves to crochet.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea and thanks for the blog visit.
DeleteWhat a great idea! I don't sew but I love to crochet!

What a great idea, Julie! Hope you enjoying some sunshine today after yesterday's rain! xo
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteCute but you should wear a cloth one underneath it as it is too porous to prevent the droplets from your mouth and nose from getting out...Since the whole idea of a mask is NOT to protect you but to protect others from you....In Pa., the saying is My mask protects you and your mask protects me!! Tee shirt material is not good either...They recommend 100 % cotton quilter's fabric....
Hugs,
Deb
Such a cute idea and so timely. I don't sew or crochet but I admire those who do! Thanks for linking up with the Style Six!

Thanks for your blog visit and comment on the face mask I crocheted.
DeleteAren't you clever Julie! Of course you would think to crochet masks! do you line them with something before wearing? Very cute!
ReplyDeleteJenna
What a cute idea! I haven't seen many homemade masks here yet, they say you only need them if you are sick, but I have tried the new sew one at home - it made hubby giggle, but we can use that if they do decide we need to wear masks when grocery shopping, haha!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a nice weekend :) It's a rainy day here - perfect weather for continuing to isolate at home!
Thanks Mica for the blog visit and your comment on the mask I made! I hope you are staying safe.
DeleteSuch a clever idea, Julie. I've made some as well, sewing, they came out very well.

Thanks for the blog visit and your comment Amalia. Hope you are staying safe.
DeleteVery pretty, and I also agree with all the comments about lining them. Wearing masks has never been a big thing in the UK. But it is becoming more common and I think there must be some reason why we are now the worst country in Europe for infections. I think wearing masks will be the way we can get back to work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion Una on lining the face mask. I hope you are staying safe.
DeleteA nice fashion statement, just wear it over a protective mask that will filter the virus from going out and from entering.
ReplyDeleteKathleen
Thanks Kathleen for your suggestion for the face mask and your blog visit.
