Monthly Musings November 2025 - Thanksgiving Holiday Prep

November 20, 2025

Hello friends.  I'm joining Holly and Patty for their Monthly Musings link-up.  This month's topic is Thanksgiving Holiday Prep.

HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS:

1)  Favorite Thanksgiving dishes?  My favorite Thanksgiving dish is stuffing.  I also love leftover food the day after Thanksgiving.  One year, I decided to make Corn Pudding Muffins as a side dish for Thanksgiving, and they came out so delicious tasting.

2)  Stuffing or dressing?  Please share a recipe.  We like to have stuffing with sausage, and another year I made it with cornbread.

3)  Are you hosting any of the holidays this year?  Please share your tips.  I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year with my brother and sister-in-law, and kids.  We will have ten people this year.  I always plan out the food with my sister-in-law.  Also, make lists and ask family members for help.  My daughter always makes a beautiful charcuterie board like the one pictured above.

4)  Turkey trot or football game?  On Thanksgiving Day my husband likes to have a football game on TV.

5)  If you decorate for Christmas, do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?  I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year, so I will decorate for Christmas and put up my tree that weekend.

6)  Are your holidays sit-down meals or more casual affair?  When I host for Thanksgiving or Christmas, it's always a sit-down meal.

7)  Pumpkin or apple pie?  Another dessert?  I love both pies for Thanksgiving.

8)  Are you traveling for Thanksgiving or staying closer to home?  I will be staying home since I am hosting Thanksgiving this year.  I alternate each year with my brother and sister-in-law for the holidays.

9)  Do you Black Friday shop?  I usually start doing my shopping before Black Friday, and I also take advantage and do Black Friday shopping online.

10)  Thing you are most looking forward to this holiday season?  I'm looking forward to spending time with my family and friends.

WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  1. Hi Julie. I love the sausage stuffing too. I did make your muffins you shared and they were a big hit. Hope you have a good rest of this week. Hugs. Kris

  2. I love these answers and we are much the same! Bring on the stuffing! We'll go to a friend's house on Thursday. Probably not my personal choice, but we'll do our turkey or whatever either Wednesday or Sunday!

  3. Stuffing is my favorite too. Yours looks amazing. I love your daughter's charcuterie board. It's nice to be hosting and you sound very organized and will have help. It's still a lot of work but nice to be home for it.I can't believe it's next week!

  4. Hi Julie, I love stuffing. I make a cornbread stuffing like my grandmother made, no sausage. We will be spending Thanksgiving with friends. I love having different pies for dessert. The best part is leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Hugs

  6. Hi Julie - stuffing is my favorite. And a sandwich the next day with everything on it...yum. Enjoy hosting your family. I used to do that...at one time for 28 people. Now that we downsized we go out for dinner. No leftovers :-(, but our friends invited us for an after Thanksgiving dinner on the weekend. I offered to make dessert but she like to get pumpkin pie at a local bakery. So we will take wine and chocolate. Don't shop on Black Friday anymore...and NO Christmas decorations till the day after Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving - thankful for your wonderful blog posts!
