Friday Favorites - End of August

August 30, 2019

Happy Friday everyone.

I can't believe that it's already the end of August and we will be heading into September!

1.  Pesto Sauce and Chickpea Pasta

I recently made homemade pesto sauce to go with the chickpea pasta that I bought from Costco.  Homemade pesto sauce is so easy to make and it tastes so fresh.

To try my Pesto Sauce recipe, just click HERE.

The chickpea pasta tastes good if you don't want to eat regular pasta.  We've tried the black bean and brown rice pasta from Trader Joe's which also tastes good.

2.  Dinner at Shake Shack

My husband and I recently had dinner at Shake Shack and it was so much fun.  The burgers are so good and we shared chicken bites, fries, diet cokes, and chocolate ice cream.  We had so much fun together!

Some of you might remember seeing my photo @brklynhousewife on Instagram.

Yum!

3.  Loving This Food Photo on Instagram

I follow my friend Ping on Instagram @espritdelavie_ping and loved this photo of a hamburger and hotdog on a roll!

I would love to make one, as I know my family would love this!  :)

4. The Dog Days of Summer

I took this photo of Bosco laying on the kitchen floor cooling off from the heat!

Bosco going for a car ride for his annual check-up at the vet.  He is such a good boy and a real trooper for his check-ups.

I am happy to report that he is healthy for an almost 12-year-old dog.  He turns 12 on October 15th.

5.  Book I Just Read

This book is a novel that opens in 1918 Australia and the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife who make one devastating choice that forever changes two worlds.

I  just finished reading the book The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman.  I enjoyed reading this book so much that I didn't want it to end!  There were many twists and turns throughout the story and you never knew what was going to happen.  I think this is a book you'd enjoy reading too.
Have you read any good books this summer?  Do you have any books to recommend me reading?

6.  Girl Goes Back to College

I can't believe we've already dropped off our girl at college.  I am going to miss her, but at the same time excited for her new school year.  We will be looking forward to our once a month visits to see her.  :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a Happy Friday and a great Labor Day weekend.

Thank you for the book recommendation! I've just finished reading the Body Double by Tess Gerritsen and now I am onto An African Quilt by Barbara Solomon.

  2. Happy Friday Julie. When we visited NY, we tried the Shake burger. We happen to love our In and out burgers. Where did the summer go? Your girls is already back to college. I understand your dog laying on the floor to keep cool. Have a wonderful weekend. xo

  3. Oh so happy for Bosco that he is doing so great at 12! That is great news. The book sounds like a great read. It is so hard when the kids go back to school. I remember those days. Tugs at your heart each time the go back. Have a great holiday weekend.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  4. I read that book a couple of years ago. I agree, it was a page turner. One I just finished was called "Escape" by Carolyn Jessop. Another page turner. And the "Future Home of the Living God", it was good, but I still never really figured out exactly what was going on there. I seem to be into dystopias for women lately. ;-)

  6. Your burgers look delicious! We have Shake Shack here in Atlanta, but I haven't ate there yet. Seeing your post makes me want to make the drive. Good luck to your daughter as she returns back to college!

  7. What a surprised mention I'm blushing :-) I bought a bag of lentil pasta from Cost Plus I still need to try out. Your pasta and pesto looks so good. I just got a new blender so will make it soon. I've read the book but didn't like it that much. I got a bit upset of her decision. I've watched the movie too. Bosco is so cute! Can't believe he'll be 12 years old! I wish your daughter all the best for another year in college. Have a good one!
