Child Crochet Scarf |
While some of you are thinking about spring and summer, and I do too, I really enjoy knitting and crocheting different items throughout the year that I donate to our church fair.
Well, my mother had this colorful yarn stored in her large yarn stash. I was so excited that I decided to use it to make a crocheted children's scarf. I love these cheerful colors of white, green, pink, and orange.
The yarn is thick and soft and there was only one skein of yarn to work with. I decided a scarf for a child would work best.

Loops & Threads Cuddly Fashion Yarn |
The yarn is from Loops & Threads Cuddly Fashion yarn. The color of the yarn is 04701 Tickled Pink. I used a large crochet hook US size J.
I started out by chaining 14 stitches. I crocheted the half double crochet until the end of the row. I then turned the hook and chained two and continued crocheting each row until I was near the end of the yarn. I then ended off and weaved in both ends of the yarn.

I really had fun crocheting this scarf at my once a week meetup at my church with the ladies in my group.
I am currently crocheting a granny square baby blanket in the colors white and grey. Some of you might have seen my photo of it on Instagram . Have you crocheted or knitted anything lately?
** I also wanted to let you know that since last Friday, May 25, 2018, when Google updated their GDPR, the comment email notifications I used to receive have been turned off. I am not receiving any emails notifications when you comment on my blog and therefore I can't comment back to you unless I do on my blog. Hopefully, this issue will be fixed fast.

Hello friends and Happy Friday! I hope you've had a good week. :)
It's been a LONG time since I've done a Five on Friday post. I thought I'd do one since they are so much fun.
1) Going out to eat dinner with my husband recently to a nearby Japenese Steakhouse. The restaurant was packed and we did not have a reservation so wound up eating dinner at the bar. It was so much fun for us since it was our first time doing that.

2) The Doll House by Fiona Davis. This book was recommeded to me to read by my daughter. This is one of the books that her book group decided to read and she loved it. I read this book and I could not put it down as I enjoyed reading it too. It takes the readers into the world of New York City's Barbizon Hotel for Women and it takes place during the 1950s. For a more detailed review please look for this at your local bookstore or online.

3) Bosco sleeping. I love the way Bosco looked sleeping in his bed nestled amoung his toys. Bosco is doing what he does best. LOL. I can't believe that he turned 10 years old in October.

4) My husband and I had another dinner out recently. We went to eat at a local sushi restaurant. I love the assortment of sushi and my favorite is the cooked eel.

5) On a walk with Bosco recently I took this photo. I love the pretty blue sky and the pink flowers blooming on this tree. You might recognize this photo that I posted on Instagram.

Instant Pot White Rice |
Hi everyone. I have another very simple Instant Pot recipe to share with you. It's how to make white rice that comes out perfect every time.

White Rice Made in Instant Pot |
In our house we LOVE rice and I make it at least once a week. We love it as a side dish to a lot of our meals. We usually have rice with our chicken and fish meals for dinner. My daughter likes to mix rice with guacamole and sometimes mixed in with eggs.
This tastes so good cooked this way and it always comes out light and fluffy. You can even eat this by itself or add it to soups.

Instant Pot White Rice
by Julie @ Julie's Creative Lifestyle April-18-2018
This is a fast and easy way to make perfect white rice in the Instant Pot.
Ingredients
- 2 cups white rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Rinse rice and place in the Instant Pot pan. Pour water over rice, add butter, and salt. Stir all of the ingredients in the pot. Place the lid on the Instant Pot. Secure in place and set to the Sealing position. Press Rice button and adjust the time to 12 minutes. Natural release for 10 minutes. After you hear the beeper, let it sit for 10 minutes. You can tell how long it has been by looking at the display. After 10 minutes, if the pressure is still up manually release the pressure.
Details
Prep time: Cook time: Total time: Yield: 5 servingsI found this recipe when searching for an Instant White Rice recipe HERE. I changed around the recipe a little bit. I added butter instead of the oil and added a little bit more water so that the rice will not stick to the bottom of the pot.
NOTE: To make brown rice, use same directions as above, but adjust time to 23 minutes and natural release and let sit for 10 minutes. Remove pressure and lid.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you all enjoy the week and weekend.

Hello, friends and Happy May! I can't believe it's already the beginning of May. The weather is finally starting to warm up here. Yay! I hope it is in your neck of the woods.

Unfortunately, with it being such a cold spring here, I have not been able to do any spring planting of flowers or vegetables yet.
I am hoping to be able to do some planting of flowers by Mother's Day. I love going to the garden center and picking out a variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables to plant in containers in my yard.
Every day I get out to walk my dog and on one of our walks, I managed to take photos of these daffodils growing wild on the sides of the street.

In my front yard, I have a cherry blossom tree that I enjoy looking at when it blooms. Right now it looks like it has snowed with all of the blossoms laying on the ground.
![]() |
On one of my visits walking through our neighborhood, I happened to pass a florist that had a huge variety of spring flowers outside its shop.
![]() |
I love hydrangea plants and they are one of my favorite flowers. I like all the different shades of the flower blooms but my favorite are the ones that come in the pink.
![]() |
I happened to be passing by this pretty planter with colorful pink and purple flowers surrounding a small tree.
![]() |
I am not sure what these white flowers are but they look so pretty in the gold plant stand.
![]() |
The yellow daffodils in this planter look so cheerful and brighten everything up after the bad winter and cold spring we've had.
![]() |
I can't wait to do my spring gardening soon. I hope you all enjoyed looking at these spring flowers in my neighborhood.
I will be sharing at this garden link party. This is a monthly garden link party that will take place on all five blogs. It is to be hosted the last Friday of every month until Fall.
