Hello friends. I seem to be reading fewer books this year. I've only read eight books so far and I seem to be in a reading slump. I like to read about romance, rom-coms, mysteries, and historical fiction books.
If you have any book recommendations, please let me know in the comments section.
Here is a list of the books I've read so far this year:

When in Rome by Sarah Adams - This is a romance book based on the Audrey Hepburn classic Roman Holiday. I thought this was such a cute love story and I loved the banter between the two main characters.

The Spectacular by Fiona Davis - I love this author and have read many of her books. I liked how this book revolved around Radio City Music Hall and the Rockettes. I loved going to see the show when I was young and then taking my daughter to see the Christmas show when she was little.

The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager - I enjoyed reading this murder/mystery and I couldn't put the book down. It has a lot of plot twists and turns to the story.

The Cloisters by Katy Hays - This book is so interesting as it takes place at the Cloisters in New York City. It follows a group of researchers uncovering a deck of tarot cards that might hold the key to predicting the future. After reading this book I would love to take a trip this summer to visit the Cloisters.

The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell- This is a fun read that is inspired by the Great British Bake Off but set in New England. It's about a baking competition that has gone wrong and how someone turns up dead.

Most of the books I read are from the library and I use the Libby app to read my books from a Kindle or I use my Kindle app on my IPad. On occasion, I will sometimes read a physical book.

I'm joining Holly and Patty for their Monthly Musings link-up. The topic for this month is All Things Spring.
1. Favorite thing about spring? The weather is warmer and we don't have to wear heavy coats and scarves. I love to see the flowers and trees blooming.
2. What are your spring traditions? I get my house ready for spring by cleaning and putting away heavy blankets. I like to clean the windows in my house. I have three floors of windows to clean. My husband and I work as a team cleaning them in about 3 days. I like getting my yard cleaned up and ready for spring. I usually like planting flowers, herbs, and vegetables. I usually do this at the end of April or the beginning of May.
3. Favorite spring outfits? I like wearing jeans or leggings, a short-sleeved top and a light sweater or cardigan. I like wearing fashionable sneakers or my tan Steve Madden quilted flats. I love to bring out my sunglasses and use a light colored crossbody handbag. I love wearing my camouflage jacket on a warm spring day.
4. Favorite springtime meal? Here are a few meals I love making in the spring.
5. Spring rain...love or loathe? I do not like rain in the spring or any time of year. It's so dreary and cold outside. I love a bright and sunny day.
6. Favorite spring flower? I love the tulips and lilies of the valley flowers in my garden.
7. Do you get seasonal allergies? Best remedies, please! Yes, I have allergies in the spring when the flowers and trees are blooming. If my allergies are acting up that day, I will take Claritin.
8. Favorite springtime beverage? I like drinking iced green tea and iced coffee.
9. Do you change your home decor for spring? I don't change too much with my home decor. I take away heavy blankets off of my couch and I'll use a lighter blanket and spring pillows. I take away heavy blankets and use a lighter quilt on my bed.
10. Lemon meringue pie or strawberry shortcake? I love both desserts but I would pick strawberry shortcake.

Hello friends. I recently saw this recipe for oatmeal raisin muffins posted on April's Insta Reel. When I saw these muffins I knew I wanted to make them.
These muffins are so easy to make and they taste delicious with a cup of coffee in the morning or for an afternoon snack.
I've made these muffins for my family twice and we love them. The muffins are moist and not too sweet tasting.
OLD FASHIONED OATMEAL RAISIN MUFFINS
This recipe can be found at April J. Harris
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup plain flour (plain flour is also known as all purpose flour)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mild olive oil (not extra virgin as the flavor is too strong)
- 1 cup juicy raisins or sultanas
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Line a 12 cup muffin pan with paper baking cups.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
In a medium bowl, mix together the egg, buttermilk, vanilla, and oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until mixed.
Gently stir in the raisins or sultanas.
Scoop the batter into muffin cups - I use a quick release ice cream scoop or a 1/3 cup measure to do this.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
Cool in the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Muffins taste best slightly warm but they reheat well the next day.

Hi friends. This month for the Share Our Lives 2024 link-up, they are discussing our Favorite Make Up and Hair Products.
I am sharing at Joanne's blog, so let's take a look at what makeup and hair products I like to use daily.
These are some of the products I use for my hair:
I use this all-in-one spray after I shampoo my hair. It works great as a de-tangler for my hair.
Next I use this thickening spray in my hair. My hair is thin and this seems to add in volume and make my hair look thicker. I've been using this product for years. I then blow dry my hair with a Conair round brush blow dryer.
I like to use this hair spray for my hair. This hair spray makes my hair stay in place. It doesn't make my hair feel sticky. I usually buy this hair spray in a large can and a two pack from BJs.
I usually shampoo my hair every other day. If my hair looks flat the day after I wash it I will add in this texture spray to my hair. It makes my hair look fuller.
If I don't wash my hair the next day I will use a hot curling brush for my hair. It's from Calista Tools. This tools works great for my hair and it adds body and volume.

- Mascara - Maybelline Sky High - Black. I also like to use Essence Lash Princess Curl & Volume Mascara - Black

If I am going to the gym I will wear concealer, eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick. I do not use foundation if I am going to do a workout at the gym. If I am at home I will wear concealer, eyeliner, and mascara. Sometimes I do not wear any makeup if I am not going out and I want to give my face a break from wearing makeup.

HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS:
1. What is your go-to spring outfit? I like to dress casual during the week. If I'm going to run errands I will wear leggings/jeans with a 3/4 sleeve top, long sleeve top, a light sweater with cute fashion sneakers. If weather is permitting I will wear a light jacket or cardigan.
2. Favorite spring fashion pieces? I love a light colored sweater, a fashion scarf, flat slip on shoes, sneakers, and sandals when the weather permits. I also like wearing my Chanel or MuMu sunglasses on sunny days.
3. Do you change up your handbag for spring? I like using a light colored crossbody handbag.
4. When do you bring out your open toe shoes? I like wearing open toe shoes and sandals when the weather hits about 70 degrees. We have to wait a while here for warmer weather to wear open toe shoes.
5. Favorite spring scents? My two favorite scents for spring are Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana and Cool Water for Women by Davidoff. I would love to go to Sephora or Ulta to try on some new scents.
6. White after Easter? After Memorial Day? Heck, whenever I want! I like wearing my white pants in May when the weather is warmer and it feels like spring.
7. Favorite ways to add spring to your wardrobe when the weather is not quite cooperating? I think wearing a fashion scarf, a bright colored sweater, or a bright colored jacket are great ways to add spring to a wardrobe when the weather isn't cooperating.
8. Do you change up your makeup routine for spring? Yes, I do change up my makeup routine for spring. I like to wear an SPF cream on my face and then depending on where I'm going, I will use an SPF BB cream or tinted moisturizer on my face. I love wearing a bright colored lipstick. I sometimes will use a blue pencil eyeliner or blue mascara.
9. How do you transition your wardrobe for spring? I take out of my dresser draws, turtlenecks, sweatshirts, and heavy sweaters. I also like to put away heavy coats and scarves. I like to add in lighter sweaters, cardigans, light long sleeve tops, and 3/4 sleeve tops. I like to add in to my coat closet lighter jackets.
10. Favorite spring accessories/jewelry? I noticed that gold chain necklaces and gold chunky earrings are in style and I'll be adding them for spring.
