Hello blog friends. August seems to be flying by so fast and soon we'll be approaching September. I enjoy summer and it's my favorite season. In the meantime, I will enjoy this last month of summer.
I have my Friday Favorites - August Edition:
1. Farm Stand
We recently enjoyed visiting a local farm stand for our fresh veggies and fruits. For my Instagram friends who follow me, @bklynhousewife you may remember seeing this photo I posted.
We bought tomatoes, corn, lettuce, fresh pickles in a jar, radishes, and a lot more. We enjoy eating fruits and vegetables that are farm fresh.

This corn is so sweet tasting that it doesn't need any butter! |
2. Growing Peppers
I was so happy to see small peppers growing in the large planter I have in my yard. I can't wait to cook the peppers for our dinner.
3. Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
I enjoyed watching all 3 seasons of this show on Amazon Prime. It was fun watching this American comedy-drama set in the 1950s and 1960s. I liked the fashionable outfits, the different scenes shot in New York City, and the many stars. I'm looking forward to watching season 4 which will be coming at the end of the year.
4. Dynasty
Who remembers watching the old Dynasty show back in the 80s?
Well, I started watching the CW soap opera reboot of Dynasty on Netflix. Quoted from Netflix, the show is about two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. So far my favorite character on the show is Fallon Carrington who is rich, beautiful, and a modern business woman. I'm looking forward to watching all three seasons of this modern soap opera.
5. Fall
I'm looking forward to fall decorating inside and outside my house at the end of the summer. I do enjoy the summer so I'll enjoy it while I can. Some of you may remember these pumpkins I made many years ago. I use them to decorate my mantel for fall.
I'm hoping that this year the squirrels don't attack my pumpkins like they did last year.
Wishing you all a Happy Friday and weekend.

Hello blog friends.
I'm sharing some summer products I bought online at Ulta Beauty.
I enjoyed shopping online recently at the Ulta Beauty store during Covid-19. I couldn't go into any stores to shop for beauty products and shopping online is so easy if you know what you want to buy. I was happy I had a $15 gift card to use and free shipping if you spend $35. I'd love to share with you what I purchased at Ulta Beauty.
1. St. Tropez Gradual Tan Classic Everyday Body Lotion
I saw this self-tanning lotion recommended by blogger Preppy Empty Nester who loves this lotion. I ordered this in the Light/Medium color. I like this tanning lotion and it doesn't have a bad odor when applied to the skin. I also ordered a mitt to apply the lotion. This lotion also comes in Medium/Dark color which I might try next time.

2. St. Tropez Dual Sided Velvet Luxe Applicator Mitt
I ordered this mitt to go with the self-tanning lotion. I'm glad I ordered this mitt and it made applying the lotion easy with no staining on my hands or body.

3. Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil
I ordered this cuticle oil because my cuticles get dried out. This oil helps to keep my cuticles soft and moisturized.

4. Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Mascara
I like the way this mascara works and I ordered another tube. You might remember me explaining about this mascara back in April here.

5. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Treatment Concealer
I have been using this concealer for my under eye area for years as read in my last post here. I love the way this concealer works and it covers my dark circles and other spots on my face. It doesn't cake up and leaves my under eye area feeling dried out.

Hello blog friends.
Well, I can't believe that today is the last day of July! This month seemed to fly by so fast and now we are headed into August.
I have my Friday Favorites - July Edition:
1. Salad
We've been eating a lot of salads lately for lunch. We did take-out salads from Sweet Green.

I had a kale caesar salad with roasted chicken, tomatoes, parmesan crisps, shaved parmesan, shredded kale, chopped romaine, lime, and caesar dressing.

b) I saw an ad on Instagram for fancy Ziploc plastic bags. They are to be used in any kind of bag like a handbag, gym bag, or suitcase to help contain and organize your clutter. I use one in my handbag to help organize my things. The next time I travel I will be using them and for when I go to the beach.

| 4. Crochet I haven't been crocheting much lately. I seem to have lost my mojo and I can't seem to concentrate for too long. I had at the beginning of July, my Zoom knit/crochet meeting, and crocheted this star while we all talked and shared what we were making. If you would like to crochet the star, you can here. I would love to hear if you have any suggestions or crochet ideas for me. 🧶 |

5. Summer Flowers
I enjoy going on walks when I don't take a Zoom Zumba class. I always stop to take photos of the beautiful flowers I see. This time I saw a pretty sunflower, and pink and white hydrangeas.

6. Walks with Bosco
This has been a rough month for Bosco because of the heat, thunderstorms, and fireworks. Bosco doesn't like to go for long walks. This time we took a walk and I got lucky. He posed for me when I asked him if he wanted a treat. Of course, I gave him a treat when we got home. 🐶

Hello blog friends. Let's take a virtual tour of Brooklyn Bridge Park.
I thought it would be fun to show you our outing that Mr. JCL and I took last summer.
We took a ferry ride to Brooklyn Bridge Park. We sat inside the boat and enjoyed the sights.

It was a beautiful summer day and we enjoyed looking at the water and the view of New York City.

Look, we can see the Statue of Liberty.

The ferry dropped us off at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

We enjoyed walking along the water and looking at the wonderful views of the city.

Look it's a photo of me!

We are getting closer to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Inside this old building is the Ample Hills Creamery.

We were both starting to get hungry, so we stopped into Shake Shack for lunch. It was so good! Mr. JCL had a chicken sandwich and I had a cheeseburger. The cold brew coffee is a winner.

| You can see below the long line to eat at Grimaldi's. It's known to be Brooklyn's best pizza. The long line is one of the reasons why I've never eaten there. |

You can ride a bike around the area on a Citibike. Look, you can see the pretty views of the city.

We took the ferry ride back home and this time we sat at the top part of the boat. It was the perfect day and we enjoyed the boat ride and visiting the park.

When it's safe to travel, Brooklyn Bridge Park is a fun place to visit.

Hello blog friends.
I hope you are all enjoying the summer. I wanted to give my plant stand a new makeover. The plant stand I have looked old and was rusted in spots.
I hope you are all enjoying the summer. I wanted to give my plant stand a new makeover. The plant stand I have looked old and was rusted in spots.
The before photo on the left shows how the stand looked old and rusty. The stand on the right is the painted plant stand makeover.

I first cleaned the plant stand with some Mrs. Meyers cleaner. I then used leftover paint I had from my bathroom redo we did a few years ago.
I used for the bathroom walls paint from Valspar called Gravity 4005-1B.

I used a small paintbrush and then I used two coats of paint on the stand. I let the stand dry overnight. I'm glad I had the leftover paint to use on the plant stand and make it look pretty. |

Hello blog friends. I am sending this out to you early!
I know this year is a different summer for many due to Covid-19. To stay safe we decided that we will be staying home. We'll celebrate the 4th by enjoying a barbecue with my family.
Whatever you all do, I hope you have fun and stay safe.
