Friday Favorites - It's the end of April

April 28, 2023

Hello friends.  Is it already the end of April?  I can't believe how fast the month of April has flown by!  I'm looking forward to the month of May and warmer weather.

The weather is perfect for spring walks in my neighborhood.  I love all of the trees and flowers budding.  The only thing I don't like is that my allergies are bothering me.  If I take Claritin then that helps with my watery eyes and sneezing.

I've been seeing on Instagram ads for Chico's Pull-On Jeggings.  I'm so tempted to buy them, except I don't have a store nearby incase I have to return the pants.

I was so excited to make this retro granny square vest.

I was working on this vest shown above except the it was coming out too small.  This pattern is from Yarnspirations and it is for a size medium.  I ripped it out to make another project with this yarn.

I found this pattern to crochet a shawlette.  I am hoping the shawl will come out good.  I've never made a shawl before and I think this will be perfect to wear to keep me warm.

I made back in March Gnocchi with Sausage and Broccoli.  This dish was a hit with my family.  To make Kitty's recipe, you can find her recipe here.  This time I decided to make it again but leave out the sausage and make it using broccoli rabe.  This dish was delicious tasting and a hit with my family.  Thank you Kitty for this easy and delicious tasting recipe.

Now that the weather is warm I like drinking iced coffee.  I love ordering Iced Shaken Espresso drinks from Starbucks.  A while back I shared this recipe to make your own drink at home.  It's so easy to make and I hope you try it out.

Wishing you a happy Friday and weekend.

  1. The flowers all look so pretty! I love Wisteria! Those jeggings look interesting. I'm sorry your granny square vest didn't work out. I bet the shawlette will be nice. I make a similar recipe with gnocci and sausage, I'm working on a post for it. I will have to try that shaken espresso drink. It looks so good! I hope you have a great weekend Julie!

  5. This time of year is beautiful but the allergies are a pain. I have been suffering too.
I love iced coffee when it's warm out and get the ready made Starbucks drinks in with my grocery shopping.

  6. Those triple frayed capris are adorable!! We're starting to see things blooming here and I am loving it; though my allergies are going haywire even with allergy meds.

  7. Oh my, those triple frayed capris are darling! I might have to look for a Chico's myself. Haven't seen one nearby. My daughter's favorite drink is an ice shaken espresso from Starbucks, too! That's too much coffee for me, but she loves them! Happy spring!!

  10. It is hard to order things online without being able to return them conveniently. I do like pull on jeggings, though. Sorry about your vest, but at least you have another project to make. I’m so glad you like the gnocchi dish. The original recipe call for broccoli rabe, but I didn’t have any. Happy weekend, Julie. It feels like winter here today.

  11. Very cute jeggings. We have a Chicos about 30 minutes from us. I guess your vest needs to re-worked. More projects. So glad Kitty's dish turned out. Happy weekend Julie.

  13. I have been against ice coffee drinks since the beginning.. i always felt the coffee just got watered down but then I tried the nitro drinks with sweet cream for Starbucks and am hooked now. But it has to be hot out.. I get a sore throat way too easily. Will try the shaken espresso as well.
