Life Lately - Summer Wrap Up

September 6, 2022

Hey friends, I hope you had a nice summer.  I've been enjoying this last bit of summer and I can't believe it's already September.

Here are some things I enjoyed this summer.

This summer I went to two family weddings in June and July.

We have a beach that is only 20 minutes away from our house.  We've been to the beach a lot this summer and I was happy to be able to swim in the warm water.

We've had a lot of BBQ's this summer and we even made grilled corn on cob.  I added butter, salt & pepper, and garlic powder to the ears of corn and then wrapped them in tin foil.  My husband grilled them and they tasted so good.

I've enjoyed sitting in my yard reading some books this summer.

I grew cherry tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, eggplants, and basil this summer.

I made pesto sauce from the basil I grew for pesto pasta.

I'm sad because Bosco has slowed down a lot and he has high blood pressure and kidney issues.  I now give him medications twice a day.  He is such a good sport and doesn't mind the medicine because I wrap up the pills in turkey.  We also bought a ramp for the back stoop stairs so he can go out in the yard without falling off the stairs. He has trouble with his back legs.  In October Bosco will be 15 years old.

While my daughter was in college she worked at a local Irish bar as a server and bartender.  She enjoys making my husband and I occasional drinks.  My favorite is the Aperol Spritz drinks she makes us.  Below she made us drinks using round ice cubes.

My daughter has also been making duck espresso ice cubes.  The ducks look adorable in the matcha drinks she makes.

My daughter has gone to a few Harry Styles concerts at Madison Square Garden.  I'm excited to go with her to see him perform on September 14th.

We've enjoyed going out for drinks and dinner with friends and family in the city.  We met up with friends at the restaurant Monomono for happy hour with delicious tasting Korean fried chicken.  I had an espresso martini which I enjoyed but sorry I forgot to take a photo of the drink.

I've been going on a lot of walks in my neighborhood.  I love spotting sunflowers on my walks by myself or with my husband.

What have you been doing this summer?

  2. Looks like a wonderful summer ! I love that you made pesto. I used to have enough sun on my patio to grow basil and always made pesto, and froze it. Now that we moved I don't get the right amount of sun and had to purchase pesto. Not the same! Glad you had some concerts and great times....enjoy the coming Fall!

  6. Sounds like you had an enjoyable summer. Your vegetable garden looks great! How fun to have your own personal bartender! Our Sadie is almost 14, so I can relate to Bosco. Sadie needs a lot of care during the day, too.
