A Book Accomplished!

August 26, 2014

Hi friends, I'm happy to say that I accomplished reading a book this summer.

I started reading back in the beginning of July the book The Paris Wife by Paula McLain.

Let me explain why it's been so long since I have read a book.  I love reading books but I don't seem to have much time to read anymore due to family, crocheting, knitting and blogging and watching TV!

I promised myself for the summer that I would read one book and finish it.  It felt really good to be reading again and I didn't want the book to end because I was enjoying it so much.  Lol!

If you have not read the book yet I highly recommend it.  To quickly sum up the book, it's about Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley Richardson and their life in Paris in the 1920's.

I just started reading the book AND THEN THERE WERE NONE by Agatha Christie.  I love mystery books and this looks like it will be a good book.  This book was recommended to me to read by my daughter who had to read this book for school.

I am on a roll right now with reading and I do hope it won't take me a long to finish reading the book.  I will let you know what I thought of it when I'm done reading it.

What book are you reading right now?

  1. Hi Julie, kudos for finishing your book, which sounds quite intriguing! I know how reading can be put on the back burner when our daily routine, our hobbies, and, ahem, blogging, become a priority! I think I'd enjoy this book on Ernest Hemingway and his wife. I studied his novels in university and I admire his writing.

Have a great day and happy reading...books, that is!

  4. Oooo, the Hemmingway book sounds interesting! I've read a lot of Agatha Christie and have seen a lot of the PBS movies with Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. Classics. :-)

  7. I am reading Tuesday's Child by dale Mayer, I usually read for 20 minutes or so before I go to sleep. I am only just starting this book so I'll let you know how it goes.
I love to read, to immerse myself in a good book, I often read a whole book if I am on holiday somewhere.

  8. Good for you, Julie! I have had a hard time squeezing reading in lately as well, but when I do get to crack open a book, I am always happy! That's funny that you are reading your daughter's book from school. That happens to us all the time! I have recently read Dracula and reread Of Mice and Men, because of the kids' assignments! I guess inspiration can come from anywhere! I love a good mystery, may have to give Agatha Christie a try!

  10. I don't read nearly as much as I used to. I still love it and try to read a few books each year. I need to put the computer down more often and pick up a book instead. The Paris Wife sounds like a great book. Have a lovely week....Vicky

  11. I used to read constantly, but now, with blogging, I don't seem to have as much time. I did read a book over the summer (in the past, I would have read 10!).

  13. Congrats on completing your summer book! I also don't seem to read as much any more . . . need to make more time to fit it in, and less time on twitter, pinterest, instagram, game apps on my phone . . . etc.

Starting to read *Wild* by Cheryl Strayed and figure I had better finish it before the movie comes out!

    Happy Wednesday! ✿

  17. I have committed to reading one book a month. Starting a book club was a great way to keep the commitment. :) I love reading too. Haven't read The Paris Wife. Sounds good though.

  18. I am a voracious reader and couldn't imagine not reading books. It's my addiction an an obsession. I joke that it's a kind of curse. Haven't read The Paris Wife. On the other hand I have literally read everything by Agatha Christie. She's among my most favourite writers. I am sure you will like it.

  19. Hi Julie! Thanks for the book review. I love to read and enjoy reading every night before I go to bed - even if it is only a few pages - I think it helps me sleep better. I just finished Mistress by James Patterson today while out by our pool enjoy some swimming, sun and reading. I am going to add the Paris Wife to my list of books to read. Maybe they will have it at the library - I go there about once a week. Enjoy your Labor Day!
