Hello friends.
We are continuing our trip to Rome and London. In case you missed my first and second blog posts about our trip, you can click the links at the bottom of this post.
My husband and I started the morning very early to take a day trip to Pompeii and Sorrento. My daughter and her friend were going to take a train to visit Florence for the day. My daughter booked our bus trip with City Wonders Ltd. We started the morning off very early and had to arrive at a meeting spot by 6:15 am. We were all divided into two groups. We were brought to our bus and met our tour guide. We were brought to a spot after about an hour to use the bathrooms and get a snack to eat.
Our meeting spot for City Wonders.
Our first stop was to see Pompeii.
Walking around Pompeii with a different tour guide who explained everything about Pompeii to us.
You can see in the distance Mt. Vesuvius.
After the tour of Pompeii, we were given a small pizza and lemon soda to eat on the bus.
We were then brought to a Limoncello Factory to see a tour and taste different samples of Limoncello. It was nice to see the gift shop and everything to do with lemons.
We were given about two hours to walk around the area. I would have liked more time to explore the area. There are such nice stores for tourist shopping and restaurants.
This is a view looking down at the beach clubs. You can walk down the cliff or take an elevator down to the water.
Basilica di Sant' Antonio. I loved the inside of this beautiful church.
After a long day, we got on our bus and headed back to the drop off area in Rome.
My husband and I wanted a quick meal after a long day. We spotted a McDonald's in the area and had burgers for a late dinner. After our meal, we had a small cup of espresso that was so good.
Instead of a long walk back, we decided to take an Uber back to our apartment.
We had a wonderful day exploring Pompeii and Sorrento.

ReplyDeleteThat looked like a really good tour. The views are stunning! I would have loved that Limoncello gift shop! The McD's are so much better in Europe!
ReplyDeleteI am enthralled with Pompeii. Haven't been for 20 years--I should go again and catch these other beautiful sights, too. :) Visiting from the Love Your Creativity linkup.

That beach is gorgeous, but wow, that's a long way down...and back up, I'm sure!! I think I'd be an elevator girl!! Love the views of Pompeii. I've seen it in photos before, but that shot of Vesuvius in the background is a bit chilling when you consider the history. Very cool photo!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Julie, what an amazing trip! Thank you for giving me the tour. Sorrento looked so beautiful. I can’t imagine walking down to that beach. I thought the inside of the church was gorgeous, too. Maybe one day I’ll get there??
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos! I enjoyed the beauty and sense of history everywhere. Lucky you.

Thanks for sharing this glimpse into your trip! It sounds like you had a very full and memorable day, starting early to pack in so many incredible sights.
ReplyDeleteAnd after such a long and culturally rich day, I can definitely relate to the decision to go for a quick and familiar meal like McDonald's! Sometimes, a simple burger is exactly what you need after a day of non-stop travel. What a perfect way to cap off a fantastic day trip.
I’m swooning. What a wonderful trip! So many amazing things to see.
