Life Lately - Spring

June 1, 2022

Life has been busy for me lately and this will be a quick update on things around here.

My garden looked so pretty with the tulips and lily of the valley in bloom this spring.  This past weekend I was able to finally do some gardening.  We planted flowers and vegetables in the garden.  I love planting pink geraniums and impatiens flowers.  I can't wait to have fresh veggies and pesto from the basil that I grow in the garden.

Bosco has slowed down a lot lately.  He is now 14 1/2 and he has high blood pressure.  He is now on medication for it and will have to be on it for the rest of his life.

Bosco had his nail fall off when he was going up the stairs.  He now has trouble going up our stairs and we have to help him along.

Bosco loves sleeping all day and he looks so comfy in his bed.

My husband is a huge hockey fan.  We've gone to a few NY Ranger games.  It's always fun when they score a goal.

We've also gone to a few New York Islanders hockey games.

For my birthday back in December, my husband bought tickets to see the comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.  We weren't able to go because the show was postponed due to Covid.  We finally were able to see him at the end of March.  He put on a great show and we had a lot of laughs.

We went to a beautiful bridal shower and wedding on my husband's side of the family.

My nephew and wife had their baby boy christened.  My nephew and my father both wore the same baby dress.

I went to another bridal shower and have another wedding coming up this Friday.

My husband made me eggs and toast for breakfast on Mother's Day.  My daughter was still away at college so she sent me banana pudding and cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery.  It was such a thoughtful gift and I loved the delicious tasting banana pudding and cupcakes.

We went a few times to help clean up and move my daughter's stuff out of her college house.  We had lunch in the park and enjoyed this lovely view of Providence, Rhode Island.

I enjoyed drinking this Rhode Island yacht club diet cola.

My daughter had a few Hello Fresh meals that she wasn't going to be able to cook.  She gave me the meals to bring home and cook.  I'm impressed with the Hello Fresh meals.  They include all the ingredients you need to make the meal with a step-by-step recipe card.  The meals all take about 45 minutes to cook with the meal prep included.  Each meal we had was delicious tasting and enough for 3-4 people.

Beef Bulgogi Meatballs

Tostadas Supremas with Pork

BBQ Cheddar Burgers with onions and roasted potatoes.

My daughter just graduated from Providence College's class of 2022.  We are so thankful that my daughter was able to have a graduation ceremony considering everything that the kids had to go through with Covid.  We are so proud of our daughter and all of the accomplishments she achieved during her years at college.

My daughter couldn't wait to wear her Love Shack Fancy dress for her graduation.  We are all thankful that the graduation was held indoors with air conditioning as it was a 90-degree day.

Senior year my daughter lived a block off-campus in a house with four other people.  She learned what it's like to live in a house with other people other than her family.  She also had 2 jobs while going to school.  Here she is with one of her roommates on the last day of living in her college house.

Wow, that's a lot of life lately!

  2. You have a lot going on! Congratulations to your daughter, that is awesome news. As for the gown being passed down generationally for the christening, that is super cool. I have some clothes that my boys wore that their great-grandmother made for their dad. :) The eats look yummy. I'm sorry to hear about Bosco's nail and how it affects him using the stairs. Glad his blood pressure can be controlled. I feel him about slowing down, I've been feeling that in human years over here for a bit now too. ;) Happy belated Mom's Day!

  10. I enjoyed catching up on your news, Julie. Looks like a wonderful start to the summer. I enjoyed that sneak peak into your garden, it is my favorite place to be these days, before it gets too hot, and I'm intrigued by that white flower with the red stripe.
