Hello blog friends. I can't believe it's the last week in February. It makes me happy because I know we are getting closer to spring.
I like ordering my books online for convenience, but I also enjoy visiting book stores. How about you?
I've never been to the Strand Book Store. I was so excited when we all decided to visit the store in New York City.
We drove into the city early on a Saturday morning and found a parking spot right across the street from the store. We got there early so we had to wait in line before the store opened.
My daughter has been to this store many times and she enjoyed giving us a tour of all three floors.
They had carts filled with used books lined outside of the store.
They had so many tote bags to choose from and my daughter helped me pick out this bag. I'm using it now to store my yarn and crochet projects.
We all bought books. I bought the tote, one new book, and a used Mary Higgins Clark book.
I am currently reading Park Avenue Summer. It's about Helen Gurley Brown and her life working as an editor in chief at Cosmopolitan Magazine.
In each book, we received a Strand bookmark.
This was such a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. I could have spent hours looking at books in this store.
Do you have a favorite book store? What book are you reading now?
Julie
I miss going to bookstores! We had a couple around here that closed a few years ago and they were so charming! What an enjoyable day to go browse!
ReplyDeleteWe had such a nice day visiting this bookstore. It's so sad when bookstores close down! Thanks for the blog visit and enjoy the week Andrea.
DeleteWhat a great day! We have one independent bookstore in a cute small town not too far away...but have not been in a long time. Still hiding from Covid and Amazon makes it too easy to order online. I just finished The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah and it was wonderful! Have a fabulous week!
ReplyDeleteI am glad we have Amazon to order books to read Ann. I like the author Kristin Hannah. Thanks for the blog visit and enjoy the week Ann.
DeleteI love going to The Strand! I've been a few times and can spend hours looking at the books. I love their tote bags and book marks!
ReplyDeleteWell, this is my place to be. I could get lost in this store for hours. I have always walked that thin line of being labelled a book hoarder. I am a voracious reader and this year I have gone beyond my wits and bought maybe more than 100 books. I call that a lucrative investment :)
ReplyDeleteI buy from local bookstores here in my country and online I order from awesomebooks. They have some mind-boggling bargains.
Not to many book stores left in our area. I love the old fashion book stores. Looks like the one you visited was great. Glad you could get out and enjoy this place. Happy New Week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is my kinda place!! I love the book store!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice book store and I'm glad I had the chance to visit. Thanks for the blog visit Ella.
DeleteI remember when I worked in the city I used to go to a Barnes and Noble on the corner of 5th on my lunch hour and get lost in the shelves and all the floors. I miss that. I've never been to Strand. Hopefully one day we can take the trip! xo
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing place to visit!! I wish I had time to read all the books that I bought over the Summer but I have just been so busy with so many projects...
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and by letting me know that you did by leaving such a sweet comment!!
Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
Hug
Deb
Your trip to go to the strand bookstore sounds like so much fun! Bookstores are my happy place, but because of COVID-19, I haven’t been able to visit one in what feels like forever! So glad you enjoyed your trip!
ReplyDeleteYes Abby, we enjoyed visiting the bookstore. Thanks for the blog visit and enjoy the week.
DeleteHow wonderful! Can't remember the last time I've been to a bookstore, ours are opening as well.

I love bookstores! Sadly, the only ones near us are all the big Barnes and Noble chains; though we did stumble upon a huge 2 story one that my sons and I enjoyed exploring.
ReplyDeleteYes Joanne, it's so nice visiting a bookstore to pick out a book to read. Thanks for the blog visit.
DeleteCute bag Julie! Are you enjoying Park Ave Summer? That's on my to read list...fun outing!

I love going to bookstores. We have a few indie bookstores near us that I try to frequent. Have you ever been to Books Are Magic in NYC? I’d love to visit it one time. I have Park Avenue Summer on my TBR right now. Have a super day!
ReplyDeleteI've never visited Books Are Magic but it sounds like a nice bookstore. I hope you get a chance to visit it sometime. Thanks for the blog visit!
DeleteI love spending an afternoon at a bookstore. Unfortunately our closest Barnes and Noble just closed. Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
ReplyDeleteOh Tanya it's too bad that the B&N closed! It's so easy to order books online but not the same as visiting a store. I like to pick up a book to look at it. Thanks for the blog visit and enjoy the week.
DeleteI've only been to the Strand once, but I'm glad I made it finally since it's such an iconic place. I didn't get any books but I got some other merch type items to remember my time there.

I love a good bookstore, Julie! I so miss being able to go to them as all our non-essential retail stores are closed. Thank you for taking us on a lovely virtual visit to the wonderful Strand bookstore. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I appreciate you being a part of the Hearth and Soul Community. Take care.
