Friday Favorites - July

July 12, 2019

Hello blog friends and Happy Friday.

I'm really enjoying the simple and relaxed schedule of the summer.  I hope you are too!

It's been a while since I last did a Friday Favorites.

1.  Final Straw

I was introduced to the Final Straw by my daughter.  She suggested we buy the straw instead of using a plastic straw when we go out to lunch or dinner.  You can order this reusable straw on the Final Straw website or on Amazon.

We ordered the straw and I am hooked.  I used the straw a few times and I love it.  I went to Starbucks for iced coffee and I used this instead of a plastic straw.  I just take the straw home and clean it.  It's so simple and it takes little effort to use.  I love that I'm not wasting any plastic straws.

2.  Plastic Starbucks Cup

Since I'm on a roll, I bought at Starbucks a plastic cup to bring with me to use for hot or ice coffee.  I paid $2 for the reusable cup.  If you bring the cup to Starbucks, you save 10 cents.  I love this idea and I'm not wasting any plastic cups!

3.  My dog Bosco

Bosco and I are enjoying our summer walks.  He loves going on his walks with his mom.  We usually see one of Bosco's dog friends on our walks.  Since it's so hot out we usually don't take as long of a walk as we do in the fall.

4.  Summer Food

I also enjoy making snacks of vanilla yogurt, strawberries, and granola.

Going out for an early morning breakfast with the family.  I totally enjoyed my everything bagel and zucchini frittata.  Some of you might remember seeing this photo on my Instagram feed @brklynhousewife.  I wound up eating only half of everything and saving the rest for later.

Trying a new Mexican restaurant for lunch with my daughter.  I had a grilled chicken burrito.   I eat only half of the burrito for lunch and the rest with a salad for dinner.

I enjoyed eating at this Mexican restaurant so much that I ate there again!  This time I had dinner with my husband.  I enjoyed a meatless cheese quesadilla.  It was a nice evening out and we both enjoyed our meal.

5.  Summer Flowers

I am loving my summer flowers and hydrangeas are one of my favorites.  I love that they are blooming a light lavender color and some even look pink.

6.  Stranger Things

I am so excited to be watching on Netflix Stranger Things season three.  It's an American science fiction-horror series that is only 8 episodes.  I'm already done with watching half of this series and I love this one the best!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend.

  1. I"m loving a lot of the same things! I just finished ST and I want to re-watch it already. My hydrangeas are beautiful too. I have metal and glass straws, I just have to remember to bring them with me. Do you have a case for yours? That food all looks so good. I'm glad you're enjoying your summer!

  4. I purchased a metal straw and a rubber tip to apply to the end. It was ok. I have to get used to it. I just hope people do not start littering with metal straws as they would hurt to be stepped on.
I have also been enjoying some yogurt and fruit bowls.
Now you have me wanting Mexican food!

  6. Hi Julie,
We rarely use straws and I salute the movement of replacing the plastic ones with these!
I too love Stranger Things, but haven't started on the last season.
