Starbucks Copycat Red Eye Drink

Here at my house all three of us LOVE Starbucks drinks.
I am writing this post in honor of my husband. He had the idea to make a Starbucks Red Eye drink at home.

I had never heard of a red-eye drink until he mentioned the drink to me. This drink is so easy to make right at home and tastes great.

To start our day off I make a pot of coffee every morning using ground Starbucks coffee. I usually buy a huge bag of it at Costco (whole beans and not ground).
At Starbucks they will grind the bag of coffee for me for free! When I do this I always treat myself to a cup of coffee.

DIRECTIONS:
Set up the coffee in your coffee machine as you usually do. Now add one tablespoon of espresso to the coffee. Add your water and put the machine on to brew.

Making the red eye drink this way is much easier than making regular coffee and a separate pot of espresso coffee. You just make the coffee and espresso in the same pot.

You can also make this Starbucks Red Eye Drink as an iced or hot coffee. Just let the pot of coffee cool off and add ice for an Iced Starbucks Red Eye Drink.
NOTE: For your information, a Starbucks Black Eye Drink is a regular coffee with two shots of espresso added.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
Yum! I cannnot wait to try this! Have the best day!
ReplyDeleteThis would get me way too juiced up, haha! But good for you for coming up with a copycat recipe you can make at home. And iced anything sounds good in this hot, hot weather. xo Deborah
ReplyDeleteNo, I’ve never tried this drink, Julie, but I’m glad that you figured out a way to make it at home. I think I’d enjoy it iced!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, this drink is new to me. Thanks for sharing about it. Not sure if I can make it with my fancy coffee maker.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think it may be just a little too much caffeine for me, but maybe just one shot of espresso. Keep cool!
ReplyDeleteI make a cold coffee drink at home with a splash of milk and some sugar free chocolate sweetener. Sounds good right now! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a red eye or black eye drink! Thank you for sharing the trick to make it at home!! We grind our beans at Costco because Starbucks wouldn't do it for us. You're lucky they will for you!
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteSounds good but I will let you in on a little secret. I have never ever had a cup of coffee from Starbuck's ( there is one right down the road) or from a mini mart. I drink my coffee at home and not on the road....
Hugs,
Deb

As an iced coffee sounds great for the summer. Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party this week. Pinned!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried it, but when it comes to coffee I am a traditionalist and rarely venture into trying other types. Usually when I am abroad. At home my drug is Turkish coffee.
