Peach Cobbler Recipe

June 28, 2017

Hello friends.  I hope you are all having a nice summer so far.  I love summer and it's my favorite time of year.

What I love about summer is enjoying fresh fruit, and with the Fourth of July and BBQ season here, it's the perfect time to have fruit cobblers.

I made this delicious peach cobbler to bring along to a birthday party at my brother and sister-in-laws house.

The peach cobbler was so good and a big hit with everyone at the party!  ðŸ˜€

I'd love to share with you this easy to make dessert.

NOTE:  I made a few changes to the recipe, and when I made the cobbler, I used Almond Milk instead of regular milk.  Instead of using regular sugar mixed in with the peaches, I used Splenda.

I also cooked my cobbler for an hour like the recipe called for, but I think the next time that I will bake it for about 45 minutes.

To make this peach cobbler taste even better, why not add ice cream or whipped cream on top.

I found this recipe on Pinterest, and you can find the recipe HERE.  I hope you all enjoy this peach cobbler recipe as much as we did.

Peach Cobbler Recipe
by Julie @ Julie's Creative Lifestyle June-25-2017
This is the perfect summer dessert using fresh peaches.
Ingredients
  • 2 cups fresh sliced peaches or one 29 ounce can of sliced peaches in natural juice, drained
  • 1 cup Bisquick All Purpose Mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a 8 x 8 baking dish, stir Bisquick mix, milk, nutmeg, and cinnamon together until thoroughly mixed. Stir in melted butter. In a medium mixing bowl, stir sugar and peaches. Spoon peaches over the cobbler crust. NOTE: Adding sugar to the peaches is optional. If your peaches are over-ripe, they may already be super sweet or if you choose to use peaches canned in heavy syrup, they will already be sweet enough. Or perhaps you are minimizing sugar in your recipes. In these situations, feel free to omit the sugar. Bake for one hour or until crust is golden brown. Serve warm and enjoy!

Knit Sweater and Crochet Hats

June 21, 2017

Hello friends.

I was recently visiting at my mom's house and she shared with me this knit sweater that she made.  My mom made this sweater to fit a child.  I told her that I loved the style, the yarn, and the stitching.  The yarn she used is green with small specks of different color yarn mixed in.

What really made me happy was that she told me that I could donate it to our knit/crochet sale that we have each fall at my church.

If you read this mom, I just want to say thanks for this lovely sweater.  Someone will be very happy wearing it!

I love this sweater and I hope to someday make one similar to this.  My mom is a very talented knitter and this is where I became fascinated by yarn many years ago.  My mom and aunt taught me how to knit one summer many years ago, but I can only knit scarves and cowls.  I will have to challenge myself to knit a sweater sometime.

Below are some crocheted hats I made that look almost like the same yarn my mom used on the sweater.  The yarn I used is not as heavy and thinner than the yarn my mom used .  I made two different styled hats and I like the hat I crocheted with the small flower.

The first crochet hat I made I'm not sure about what pattern I used for this since I found it on Pinterest.  I also added the lower bottom part of the hat using the single crochet stitch.  The flower pattern can be found HERE.  The yarn I used for the hat was worsted weight yarn given to me to use by our crochet/knit groups stash yarn we have.  There was no label on the yarn.  You can use whatever yarn you like and the crochet hook is a US size I.

The second crochet hat seen above to the right is made in a different style for a child.  The pattern to make this hat can be found HERE.

The hats I crocheted are for a child and I found them not too difficult to make.

I hope I've inspired you to crochet a hat and have fun making one.

Have you crocheted or knitted anything lately?

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend!  Jess and I will see you all back here on Monday for our Cooking and Crafting with J & J Link Up.

Crock Pot Corn on the Cob

June 14, 2017

Hi friends.  I hope you are all enjoying the start of summer.

Last year I had a blogger link up to our Monday Cooking and Crafting with J & J Link Party that I co-host with Jess from Plucky's Second Thought.   Angie shared a blog post on how to make Crock Pot Corn on the Cob.

When I saw that recipe, I just knew that I wanted to try and make it too.  Well, I made the corn on the cob that way, and it tasted so good and it was so easy to make.

What I love about using the crock pot, is that you do not have to be standing over a hot stove to make it.  Meanwhile, I can be doing other things while the corn is cooking.

Just make sure that you have the time to cook the corn in your crock pot before your dinner or BBQ.

It's so easy to prepare and you will be so happy that you won't be cooking over a hot stove.

I hope you try this way to make your corn on the cob.  Let me know if you cook it this way, and how you liked it.

Thanks Angie from The Country Chic Cottage for sharing this way to make corn on the cob.  I will definitely be making my corn this way this year too.

Crock Pot Corn on the Cob

This is the perfect way to make crock pot corn on the cob and stay cool in the kitchen.
Ingredients
  • (shucks removed) corn
  • aluminum foil
  • butter
  • salt
  • crock pot
Instructions
Wrap each ear of corn in aluminum foil with 1/2 tablespoon of butter and salt to taste. Wrap tightly to make sure that butter does not leak out. Add all of your ears of corn to crock pot. Cook on low for 4-5 hours or high 2-3 hours. Remove carefully from crock pot as the corn will be hot.

Crochet Baby Blanket and Hats

June 7, 2017

Hello friends and Happy June!  The weather is really crazy here and it feels like winter.  I will be happy when it warms up and summer will finally arrive!  LOL.

I really enjoy crocheting during the long winter months and I made a few baby blankets and hats to share with you.

I made all of these crochet items to donate to our country craft fair our church will be hosting over the weekend.  The crochet/knit group I belong to with our church, is going to have a table set up to sell some items we all made.  I will be busy helping out for the day.  ðŸ˜€

This is a baby blanket and baby hat set I made.

I also made a white baby hat with a small colorful flower attached to the hat.  The pattern for the white baby hat can be found HERE.  The yarn I used for the hat is from Caron Wintuk worsted weight yarn in an off white color.  I'm not sure if this yarn is still available as it was given to me from my mom many years ago.  I used an H or I size US crochet hook.  To make the attached flower the pattern can be found HERE.  The yarn I used for the flower was thin multi colored yarn.  (I'm not sure who makes it since it did not have a label on it).  You can use any colored yarn you like.

The baby blanket I crocheted is a granny square extended and made into a blanket.  To see directions on how to make your own granny square baby blanket you can click HERE.

To make the yellow crochet baby hat you can use the pattern HERE.

The yarn that I used for the blanket and the hat is from Lion Brand Yarn in the color 157 Pastel Yellow.  The crochet hook is US size I.

I have made so many of the crochet granny square baby blankets to donate for my church fall fair and for people in my family having babies.  They are great blankets to use for an infant baby carriage.

The baby hat is new to me as I just learned how to make them.  My next project I want to learn how to make is crochet baby booties.

I love learning new items to crochet and new crochet stitches.  Have you crocheted anything lately?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope I have inspired some of you to make some crochet baby items.

Enjoy your week and weekend.  Jess and I will see you all back here on Monday for our Cooking and Crafting with J & J Link Up and winner of our Giveaway!
