The Wicked Monk Pub

March 8, 2013

In this blog post it is going to be about a local Irish pub and will not be crochet or knit related.  Last night I went out to dinner with my husband to a pub called the Wicked Monk.  The pub has been in our neighborhood for a long time and they moved to a new location close to our house.  Inside all the windows came from a church in Ireland that were made of stained glass and there is a stone wall that was made only by Irish men and there are so many TVs surrounding the whole pub.  Last night it was a really nasty rainy evening and I thought that there would be not that many people inside, well I was wrong.  Inside there were a lot of people and it had a really nice atmosphere.  The waitress that waited on us was so nice and she is from Ireland.

My husband and I had an appetizer that we picked out that was kind of different, it was called Reuben Spring Rolls.  It was so good, that it was like a Reuben sandwich but made into a spring roll.  I had Coors Light and my husband had Blue Moon beer.  For the entree I had Lamb Shepherd's Pie with french fries and my husband had a Pork Chop with mashed sweet potato and applesauce.  When it was dessert time my husband and I were so stuffed so we just had a single espresso each.  The chef came out to talk to us and he was nice too, so I guess this place has new customers.  I'm sorry I did not take pictures last night but I just wanted to relax and enjoy myself because I am usually at home cooking.

The one thing that I am looking forward to is St. Patrick's Day.  They are going to have a big party and it seems like it will be a lot of fun.  I am part Irish and I love St. Patrick's Day and I will be making corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for my family.  I hope you enjoyed this because St. Patrick's Day is almost here.

  1. What a great name for a pub! I'm sure St Patrick's Day is going to go with a swing. I love Irish pubs the atmosphere is always so friendly and lively. The shepherd's pie sounds just perfect. Have a great weekend. Chel (by the way love the new layout!) x
