July 1, 2026

Hello friends and happy July!  I hope you are enjoying the summer and have a great month.  😎

I'm joining Amy from the blog, Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa, for her Currently link-up.  It's held on the first Wednesday of each month.

This month, we are sharing:  Sparkling, Grilling/Cooking, Heating Up, Using, and Celebrating.

SPARKLING:  The sky will sparkle this weekend with fireworks for the 4th of July.

GRILLING/COOKING:  We will be grilling steaks for our 4th of July BBQ.  We've already grilled hot dogs and cheeseburgers for a few meals this summer.  I love our little BBQ's and not having to use the oven.

I love having corn on the cob with our BBQ's.  I love getting corn from a farm stand because it tastes so sweet and fresh.

One night, we decided not to use any buns with our cheeseburgers to keep the meal low-carb.  I made chickpea and tuna salad, and we also had olives with feta cheese on the side.

HEATING UP:  The weather will be heating up this week with a heat wave here.  I will mostly be staying inside in the air conditioning to stay cool.  I will be making sure to water my garden, flowers, and herbs every day this week.

USING:  I've been using some of these beauty products lately:

I've been using Trader Joe's daily facial sunscreen SPF 40 on my face and neck every day for the summer.  I love this product, and it glides on clear.  It's supposed to be a dupe for Supergoop.

I've been using this Essence mascara in the color black brown.  I usually use black mascara, but this is a nice change for the summer.

I always use this NYX retractable eyeliner in the color Olive every day.  I can no longer get this eyeliner at Ulta, so I order it from Amazon.  :(

I've been using this Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer #121
I've been using this concealer for years, and I love the way it works by concealing my dark circles and other spots on my face.

CELEBRATING:  We will be celebrating the 4th of July this weekend.  My husband and I will have a BBQ and then watch the fireworks on TV.  It will be nice and quiet.

Wishing you a wonderful 4th of July!  What will you be doing for the 4th of July?

What is currently new with you?

  1. That burger meal looks delish. Who needs a bun!? It is looking really hot for the rest of the week here too. I'm looking forward to a quiet 4th as well. We'll go to our old hometown parade in the morning but after that we don't have any plans. That eyeliner looks good. I need to check it out. I hope you're having a great week!

  2. Yeah we definitely will be trying to stick to mostly air conditioning this week too. Though we do have a cookout at the lake on Saturday with my husband's whole family so I'll have to suck it up and be outside then.

  3. Burgers without buns is great sometimes. I like to order the protein style burger from In & Out. It is a burger wrapped with lettuce. Summer is great for grilling. We will most likely grill a tri-tip steak and corn on the cob. Farm fresh produce always tastes better. Enjoy your quiet evening.

  4. We have gotten to the stage where we watch the fireworks on tv - easier and better to be home with the dogs. We have lots of fireworks going off in the neighborhood, and the dogs are not fans of that! I love grilling in the summer too!

  5. We've been avoiding the oven this week! Yesterday the charcoal and newspaper felt so damp we couldn't get the grill going so it was pizza time!

  6. The burger looks so good! I like to make a burger bowl, too, and don't miss the bun. I switched to brown mascara and love it. I think it works better for my coloring.

  8. It sounds like you have a lovely July 4th weekend on tap, Julie. I've been trying to eat my burgers without a bun lately, too. It's not bad, I really don't miss it. The corn looks great, I'll be making some this weekend, too! Stay cool my friend...yikes, it's almost too hot for the pool!! Haha!

  9. Stay cool, Julie - We are staying in and keeping to the AC. Were able to exchange our tix to a baseball game for another date so we did not have to go in this heat!!!

  12. I hope your 4th of July BBQ was a great success. I have to say, I really like your low-carb meal, Julie. I've never thought to try chickpea with tuna and it sounds really good. I'm having it for lunch tomorrow. Enjoy the summer!

  13. There are definitely some days that it's better to stay inside with the a/c than to spend any unnecessary time outdoors! We should probably eat our burgers without buns more often - it's a hard habit to break!
Hope your summer has been off to a good start!
