December 4, 2024

Happy December friends! 😊🌲

I'm linking up with Jennifer from Overflowing with Thankfulness for her Currently link-up.

This month we will share what we are loving, looking forward to, buying, hoping, and baking.

LOVING:  I'm loving my Christmas cactus plant, which is starting to bloom.  It was given to me last year by my Zumba instructor for my birthday.  It was such a thoughtful gift and I love that I can admire it every day and think of my instructor.  😊

LOOKING FORWARD TO:  I'm looking forward to enjoying the holidays.  They go by so fast and I like to enjoy our holiday decorations and lights.  Yay, I get to buy this month my Starbucks birthday drink!

BUYING:  I will be shopping in the stores and online for Christmas presents.  I especially love going into bookstores to buy books for my family.  The Barnes & Noble store in Union Square, NYC, is one of my favorite bookstores.

HOPING:  I hope our new dog Lucy will be good for the holidays.  She is still a puppy and turned one years old on November 27, 2024.  I bought couch slipcovers from Amazon.  Now the couches will stay nice and won't have a lot of dog hair or dirt on them.  I can throw the slipcovers in the washing machine and let them air dry.  Wish us luck with Lucy!  LOL.

BAKING:  I am not a huge baker for the holidays.  I'm given cookies from friends and my sister-in-law is a huge baker who bakes us delicious cookies every Christmas.  I enjoyed baking these types of cookies when my daughter was little.  Do you bake for the holidays?

What have you been up to and is currently new with you?

  1. Lucy is so cute. The slipcovers are a great idea. My Christmas cactus just bloomed as well. I got so many flowers on it this year. I don't know if I'll do much baking. My daughter usually does the cookies but we'll see. I make Chex Mix and my husband and I will make cranberry bread. I hope you're having a great week!

  3. That book store looks fabulous! My Christmas cacti are all blooming too and I love how colorful they look in the window. How sweet to get a plant from your yoga instructor on your birthday.

  4. Your cactus looks amazing - what a nice gift. I usually bake a LOT of cookies as gifts, but this year we are away for the holidays so I am not going to do a lot - will make brownies for the neighbors as they are easy and good. Love a good bookstore...enjoy all the fun of the holidays!

  6. What a pretty cactus!! I totally understand Christmas with pets...it can be a challenge! Our kitties used to climb our trees and we'd have to fish them out through wires and ornaments. Haha! I'm not a big baker either. I used to do a lot of it when the kids were small, too, but now I let them take charge of the cookie dough and baking and I just get to decorate them! Enjoy the week and the snow!!

  7. I’m impressed with your Christmas cactus, Julie. I had one from last year, and I put it outside in the summer, and it got eaten overnight. I just bought a new one from Trader Joe’s and I’ll keep it indoors! Happy December and I hope your Lucy is good for you. 😊

  9. Lucy looks very sweet - I hope she continues to be a good girl through the holidays with so many things to tempt her. Your Starbucks drink reminded me that I have my birthday Starbucks drink to collect this month, and I"m sure some other birthday bonuses as well. Here's to the December birthdays! Hope your holidays are happy! Visiting from Currently, a a little late. :-)
