Knit Scarf Using Blanket Yarn |
Hello everyone. I hope you are all staying warm this winter as it's been so cold and snowy in my neck of the woods. It's been so cold outside and to keep myself busy for the winter I recently made this knit scarf using blanket yarn. I decided to knit this scarf using blanket yarn instead of knitting or crocheting a blanket. This would make a really beautiful blanket but I just don't have the time or patience for making one.

Here is a photo of the back side of the scarf. If you notice the stitching looks different on the back side of the scarf than on the front of the scarf.

This is a photo the yarn label and you can see that this is Bernat Blanket Yarn in the color Dark Teal. I knit this scarf using US size 11 knitting needles. This yarn is great to use because it's machine washable.
Yarn Label |
YARN: Bernat Blanket Yarn - Color I used: Dark Teal
KNITTING NEEDLE: US Size 11
For this scarf I used the stockinette stitch.
Cast on 12 stitches.
Row 1: Knit across all stitches with the knit stitch.
Row 2: Knit the purl stitches across the whole second row.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you've reached the desired length. I made this scarf big enough to wrap around your neck once to keep warm about 40 inches long.

I loved using this blanket yarn and it was so easy to make using thick knitting needles. When I use a large knitting needle and thick yarn to make projects it usually knits up fast. This yarn comes in many colors and it's available in many stores such as Micheals, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, Walmart, and online at Craftsy, and Amazon.
I hope I have inspired you to knit a scarf using this blanket yarn too. I'm making another scarf using this type of yarn in black.
I really enjoy making these types of scarves and of course I will be donating this scarf to our church sale.
Have you done any knitting lately?
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the week and weekend.

ReplyDeleteSounds like it would make a nice warm scarf. I'm a crocheter but the yarn sounds interesting.

ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
Yarns are usually marked by its length and not by its weight. The yarns in general are rolled and packed in to balls. Based on the fiber composition and the thickness, the length of the yarn will vary. garn och stickor
