The day started when we woke up early at 4:00am to get ready for a 7:00am flight to Los Angeles, California. I read magazines and slept a little on the plane. The flight was good but they did not serve any food on our 6 hour flight, only water, tea, coffee or soda. My daughter and I were hungry when we were almost to our destination and we decided to wait to have lunch when we arrived in CA.
Once we arrived in California and left the airport, we got our rental car and decided to have lunch at IN-N-OUT BURGER. Boy am I glad that we waited to have our lunch! It is so amazing!
We then settled ourselves and relaxed a little at our friends house where we were going to stay for the week. I love our friends house and I felt like I was staying at a spa for the week!
These are photo's of our friends backyard and pool area.
Once we were all settled in we took a walk to Venice Beach, Los Angeles at the canals. The canals are very similar to the ones in Venice, Italy giving this part of Los Angeles it's name. Many people don't even know this part of Venice Beach or of it's existence. It was so pretty and peaceful there. I'm glad I got to see this part of California and take pictures of it.
I love this tree below and a lot of lanterns were hanging in the tree. It looks so unique and I love the way it hangs over the sidewalk and water.
I'm so glad that I took pictures of my trip because it already feels like a dream! I will be sharing more of my California trip so stayed tuned everyone!

Love the pool area. Definitely looks like a spa. So enjoying my time in California, too.
ReplyDeleteSo what's up with these airlines? I know they're cutting back, but six hours without anything to eat?! Ugh! I can't even go four hours without my head exploding and getting grumpy! lol
ReplyDeleteAnywho...you have good friends :)! Love the pool area!
Your friend's outdoor area looks lovely and Venice Beach looks great too. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. x

Lovely trip pictures! I haven't been to California or anywhere in the States for that matter but I hope I get a chance one day!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures. looks like you had loads of fun. My husband is also in California now, San Diego. He's enjoying the weather there while I'm sulking here in toronto with a not so great summer ;-)

Wow! No food for 6 hours! I bet you all were hungry. The burger and fries look tasty. Your friends place is absolutely stunning. I would feel like I was at a resort as well...:) Venice Beach looks like a lovely place to visit. Glad you had a nice time and I look forward to hearning more soon!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Vicky
What a beautiful home and a beautiful neighborhood. I never realized that there were canals in Ca! Glad you had a nice vacation. Welcome back to reality! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat burger and fries were certainly worth the wait I'd say!! And the canals looks so peaceful, something that I didn't know Los Angeles had. Thanks for enlightening me and I can't wait to see more! Take care xx
ReplyDeleteYour friends place is just lovely. Enjoyed all of your beautiful photos. What a wonderful trip and wonderful memories. Blessings, Valerie

ReplyDeleteHi Julie,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you and your daughter had a great time. My daughter and I went a few years ago...it was a six our flight for us but we stopped over in North Carolina. So, we were able to eat then. I don't think I can handle long flights. You have some beautiful photos. We took photos as well but ours didn't turn out that well. I look forward to seeing more photos of your vacation.
Nice pics, next time look at the bottom of the In N Out cup, they put bible verses on the bottom of the cups.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, your trip sounds wonderful! I love your friend's backyard 'spa' - now that is true California living! I have never been to Venice, but it looks wonderful. My sister lived there for a short while years ago, but I never got the chance to visit (4 little ones). She always tried to describe it to me and now I see why she loved it so. Love the lanterns in the tree and all the little kayaks and boats lining the canals. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your pics! xo Karen

Your friends' pool and lounge area is gorgeous! I hope you spent lots of time relaxing there. I'm so glad you had a good trip, and I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures. I've never been to California. Have a great week Julie!
ReplyDeleteI could spend a week around that beautiful pool area!! Everything looks so inviting :) Nice shots of the canals. I've been to Venice, but not LA. Looking forward to more photos of your trip! Wendy x

Hi Julie, your friends pool area looks amazing, I'm so jealous (lol). What an amazing vacation for you and some great pictures. I look forward to the next instalment xx
ReplyDeleteWhen I taught a high school English class, the kids all raved about the IN in Out Burger restaurant and said they missed it so. Evidently we had on here, but they packed up and left before I arrived. Guess I'll have to go to Cali. :)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are nice, and your friend's spa/pool area does look very relaxing.
I can see why you felt like you were at the spa - your friend's place is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYour burger and fries look so good and brought back memories of a trip I made with friends to California and they introduced me to In-N-Out.
Have a wonderful day! Hugs
Wow, that looks amazing! I need some friends that live there-ha! I'm sure you had a wonderful time :)

It's ashame the airline didn't provide food on such a long trip! That's terrible. You would think at least a salad or sandwich. I've heard wonderful things about In N Out burger. Julie it looks absolutely delicious. I think your friends need to get into the resort business, because their pool area is fabulous! Glad you had a great time!
