Things To Do For Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is an American holiday observed on the last day in May.  It honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.  Please remember the sacrifices made for the red, white, and blue.

Memorial Day weekend usually kicks off the start of summer with tons of things to do.  I made a list of fun things that you and your family can do for the weekend.

  • Visit Fleet Week

Fleet Week New York, now in its 29th year, is the city’s time-honored celebration of the sea services. It is an unparalleled opportunity for the citizens of New York and the surrounding tri-state area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services. The weeklong celebration has been held nearly every year since 1984.
  • Go to a local Memorial Day parade held in your neighborhood
  • Have a Barbecue
  • Go to a local park and have a picnic
  • Go to the beach
  • Ride a bike
  • Go to see a block buster movie
  • Read a book, like a popular summer beach read
  • Take a mini vacation
  • Go out to eat for lunch or dinner at your favorite restaurant
  • Visit a museum
  • Retail shopping for clothes, summer housewares, outdoor furniture, a new bbq grill, etc.
  • Visit an old fashioned ice cream polar

Wishing you all a Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

We usually have no plans but this year we are going to a baseball game/concert/fireworks Friday night, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie on Saturday, out with friends on Sunday, and Monday to the Rochester Public Market where they have Flower Days to get all my annuals to plant. Whew!! It will be busy. All days are supposed to be nice weather except Friday night. It figures...we will be sitting outside! Happy Weekend to you....hope you have lots of fun things to do!
