Hello blog friends.
It seems like the summer is in full swing. June flew by so fast and I can't believe that next week will be July!
I have my Friday Favorites - June Edition:
I seem to read more books in the summertime than I do in the winter. I like to sit in my yard and read books with a cool drink. I recently read the book, The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi.
I bought this book at Costco and it looked like an interesting read since it's a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub pick. I didn't like this book at first since it had a slow start but once I got into reading the book I found that I liked it. This is book 1 of 2: The Jaipur Trilogy.
Did you read this book and like it? What book are you reading?
I did't plant as many veggies this year as I have in the past. I've tried to grow tomatoes in container pots and I hardly get any tomatoes. I used to plant them in honor of my father and father-in-law who both had success with growing tomato gardens. This year I planted romaine lettuce, two pepper plants, basil, and flowers in my yard. I've already made a few salads with the lettuce I've grown. It's always nice to have a fresh salad from the garden.
I like taking evening walks from time to time with Bosco. I enjoy looking at the pretty flowers that my neighbors grow. I spotted pretty roses and pink hydrangeas on my walk one evening.
I am finishing up with crocheting another Appa for my daughter's friend for her birthday. I like to call the Appa's twins and I'm glad to be almost done with working on this project.
The colorful sweater seen below was crocheted for my daughter by a talented crochet designer from depop. This colorful sweater was also worn by Harry Styles.
I might crochet a granny square sweater seen below, as I am now inspired to make a colorful sweater.
Now that the pandemic is almost over I have been going back to the nail salon for my manicure/pedicures.
I recently saw on Ann's blog Our New Vista that she did her own gel manicure look at home using this Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat. I am inspired to try it out for myself to see if it works without using a UV light.
Just a little reminder that Blogger will be doing away with Feedburner in July. I had my new email subscription service set up by Linda at Life and Linda with MailChimp for a small fee. You can see my new email widget form located on my sidebar. There are other email subscription services available and a few blogger buddies Living on Cloud Nine and Our Life in a Click are using follow.it. You can read a helpful blog post that Linda did on Feedburner here.
Look who I found hiding under the table! Bosco loves this hiding spot.
You might have seen some of these photos on my Instagram feed. You can follow me on Instagram at @brklynhousewife to see my latest photos. You can follow me using the Instagram symbol on my sidebar. I hope to see you on Instagram!
I hope you have a happy Friday and weekend.

Hello blog friends and happy March!
I have my Friday Favorites - March Edition:
1. Exercise
I've been doing some yoga on YouTube, Yoga with Adriene. These yoga lessons are great because you can do them whenever you like. Adriene has so many different levels of yoga lessons available. Have you tried any of these yoga videos yet?
I love using my new Lululemon reversible yoga mat that I received this past Christmas.
When I saw this photo on Instagram, I thought this puppy looked adorable and ready to do yoga. Maybe downward dog pose?
2. College Drop Off and Shopping
We dropped off my daughter at college back in January. We decided to go shopping at the mall and stop for lunch afterward.
We were able to shop without any large crowds of people in the mall. We've never heard of the store Boscov's but my husband bought some Ralph Lauren shirts on sale. I was happy to buy new Ray-Ban sunglasses.
In Rhode Island, they have dine-in at restaurants so we had lunch at Panera Bread. We felt safe as the tables were spaced apart and there weren't too many people eating lunch. We both shared a salad and sandwich and then it was back on the road to go home.
3. Eating
My daughter bought this mini Dash egg-making machine at Target. We tested out the machine before my daughter went back to college. The egg machine went back with her and makes the cutest egg bites.
My daughter's roommate brought this mini waffle maker to college too. Now they can all enjoy homemade mini waffles and eggs.
I've been making turkey grilled cheese sandwiches lately. I usually make a whole sandwich and split it in half with my husband for lunch.
We were surprised in the mail with a big box of Girl Scout cookies my daughter sent us. We love these cookies but I'm splitting the box with her as we are trying to be good about eating sweets.
4. Creative
I was recently requested to make a crocheted baby Yoda for my Zumba teacher. I found this pattern to make baby Yoda.
My daughter is showing off a new fleece Appa hat her friend gave her. I think my daughter looks adorable and the hat matches the crochet Appa I made her. I'm working on making another Appa for my daughter's friend.
I used to do calligraphy many years ago. I was inspired to try it again after seeing the book and pens on Tanya's blog, The Other Side of the Road. I'm a little rusty doing the letters but I'm having fun.
5. Watching
In keeping up with watching the Marvel movies, we saw Iron Man 2, Thor, the Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Thor-The Dark World. We both like watching Marvel movies on the weekends.
Thor
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor - The Dark World
6. Snow
We had 17 inches of snow at the end of January that lasted for three days. We cleaned everything up and then had another five inches of snowfall a few days later. We had another snowstorm in the middle of February. We've had snowstorms on and off for most of February. This is a photo of Bosco on our front steps watching his Dad clean up the snow. I hope we won't have anymore snowstorms for the month of March. I can't wait for winter to be over and I wish it were April already!
Have a happy Friday and weekend.

Hello blog friends. We got dumped with about 17 inches of snow this week. It's one of the biggest snowstorms we've had in five years. I can't wait for the snow to melt. How's the weather in your neck of the woods?
I have my Friday Favorites: February Edition
1. Watching
We enjoyed watching this Netflix mini-series The Queens Gambit. We liked it so much that it has inspired my husband and daughter to play chess games with each other.
We recently watched Let Them All Talk on HBO max. I enjoyed this all-star cast of Meryl Streep, Candice Bergan, and Diane Weist.
I'm glad we finally got to see on Disney + Black Panther. We loved watching this action-packed superhero movie.
We enjoyed watching Wonder Woman 1984. If you watched the tv series Wonder Woman starring Lynda Carter, then you will like this superhero movie. I'm excited as we plan to watch more of the Marvel movies.
We recently enjoyed watching Captain America: The First Avenger movie. It covers good vs. evil. We look forward to watching more of these movies.
The next movie we watched in order is Captain Marvel. My husband and I are having fun watching these movies on the weekend.
We just watched Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. last weekend. We both enjoyed this movie.
Have you seen any of these shows or movies?
2. Reading
I just finished reading The Address by Fiona Davis. This book takes place during the 1800s at The Dakota apartments, in New York City. This book covers two eras, has the elements of a romance, and a tragedy that takes place at the Dakota apartments. I enjoyed reading The Dollhouse and The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis.
Have you read any of these books?
3. Creating
I just started working on making another crochet Appa for my daughter's friend. This project involves crocheting many parts and then sewing them all together onto the Appa. This project should take me a while to make.
4. Eating
We recently had salads again from Just Salad. I enjoyed the Sweet Valley salad which consists of romaine lettuce, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, sweet potatoes, roasted pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, all in a lemon basil dressing.
Have a happy Friday and weekend.
