Hello friends. I hope you all are enjoying the week.
I recently had dinner in New York City. I headed into the city to meet my husband, his cousin, and a friend who was in town from Singapore.
In order to get to the restaurant, I had to walk through Times Square. Below are some photos I took on my walk to meet my husband before we went to the restaurant.
You can see in the photos the huge crowd of people.
I spotted a person below dressed up in the Statue of Liberty costume. Crazy me wanted to get closer so that I could get a better photo.
Below a photo of Spider-Man and the Statue of Liberty.
The street was closed off from cars and you can see people sitting down at tables. I am always in awe when I am in TS and love looking very quickly at everything. Unfortunately, the weather was not that good as it was a dark and rainy evening.
Whew! I made it to the Pret A Manger where I met my husband. Times Square gets so crowded with a lot of people. I call it the zoo! LOL.
I love the city but that area is just a little too crowded for me. I do love seeing that area and all the lights and buildings lit up at night. I also enjoy visiting Times Square every December to see a Broadway show for my birthday. :)
We had a reservation at the restaurant Sushi of Gari. It's a Japanese restaurant located at 347 West 46th Street. There are three other locations in the city and one in Hollywood, California.
Below is the sushi bar where you can usually see all of the sushi chefs making the sushi. They also have other tables to sit at. I am sorry I did not get a photo of the inside of the restaurant but you can get an idea from the photos below.
All four of us sat at a table below on the right. |
We all had cold Saki to drink and I can't believe I actually ate all 13 pieces of sushi shown below. It consisted of different cut pieces of fish with white rice on the bottom. The others had just fish with no rice and they all kept on eating for two more rounds.
After we finished eating dinner we decided to all share a few desserts. It was such a fun evening out with family and friends. We always enjoy eating the fresh sushi at Sushi of Gari restaurant.
Do you like eating sushi? Have you ever been to this restaurant?
TS is always SO crazy! I try and avoid the busier streets when walking from the train to the theatres. My daughter hates to meet us there but will put up with the crowds if we're going to a show or dinner!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe've been to another sushi place around there. It's called Sushi Seki.
I love New York and Times Square is always so much fun to visit. But definitely crowded. I'm not a fan of fish, but my husband loves sushi!
ReplyDeleteOh Julie how fun you live so close to being able to enjoy going into Time Square for dinner. New York City is on my bucket list and the 911 memorial I hope Terry and I can visit one day soon. What a great evening for you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday.
Hugs,
Kris
I am so envious you live so close and can visit the city. It is busy, but we really enjoyed our visit. Of course, my husband is from NJ, so he knows all about NY. Happy weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteNYC is my hometown. I even remember Times Square when it wasn't as crazy but that was ages ago. I have been back to visit at the end of the 1990s and I can tell you my hometown keeps calling me back so one day I will return to take another look around. Glad you had a good time. Have a great weekend.

I definitely have to be in the right frame of mind to walk through Times Square, with the mobs of people. I love sushi! I've never been to Sushi of Gari, but the sushi looks so good, I will have to try it!
ReplyDeleteAhhh..Times Square. I haven't been in years. I went to school in NYC and loved it-but would not want to live there (anymore). It is way too busy for me- I have gotten used to a quieter life, I guess.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pictures. Sushi and I do not like each other. I can't eat fish.
Have a wonderful upcoming week, Julie. xo Diana

Looks like you had a great time. Just the other day my son was telling me he wanted to visit Times Square. I had to tell him that NY was across the Atlantic from us, we may go there one day but not right now. He was kind of disappointed :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining The Really Crafty Link Party this week.
Great photos from pre-pandemic times - when will it return to normal? Hope you can go there in 2021 for your birthday.
