Stuffed Mushroom Recipe

December 8, 2013

I recently made stuffed mushrooms and I would love to share with you the recipe to make them.

First you take the stem off the mushrooms and chop them up into small pieces for the recipe.

The bottom photo is what the stuffing for the mushrooms should look like.

These are the stuffed mushrooms laid out on a tray.  Please remember that when mushrooms are cooked they shrink.

I hope you try this recipe for Stuffed Mushrooms as it's the perfect appetizer to serve for the holidays or they can be served on the side with dinner.

STUFFED MUSHROOM RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
1/2 cup grated cheese
4 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or dried parsley
salt and pepper to taste
1/3 cup olive oil
28 large white mushrooms - stemmed & mushroom stems chopped up

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.  Stir the bread crumbs, grated cheese, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper, olive oil, and mushroom stems in a medium bowl and blend.  Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray (such as PAM).  Fill the mushroom cavities with the stuffing and arrange on a baking sheet, cavity side up.  Drizzle remaining olive oil on top of each mushroom.  Bake until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is heated through for about 25 minutes.  To tell if done, place a knife or fork in the middle of mushroom to see if it slides through easily.  Serve.

Thanks everyone and enjoy.

Vicky's Ornament Exchange

CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT EXCHANGE HOSTED BY
VICKY at Life on Willie Mae Lane

I recently joined my friend Vicky and her blog Life on Willie Mae Lane for an ornament exchange that she hosted.  This is my first time involved in an ornament exchange for Christmas.  It was so much fun gathering and making the items for the person that I was assigned to by Vicky.

Here is a picture of the items inside the box when I opened it up.  My gifts arrived in the mail from Anne at Stuff & Nonsense.  It included a rustic wreath ornament, two bags filled with gold snowflake ornaments and two gift card holders.

Here is the pretty red box that the wreath ornament came in and the wreath ornament.

The wreath ornament, the snowflake ornaments, and the gift card holders are so pretty and I love them.

The ornaments are perfect and will look lovely on my Christmas tree this year.

Here is a closeup of the snowflake, gift card holders and the wreath.

I love these ornaments so much, thanks Anne!

This is the beautiful gold snowflake ornament decorated on my Christmas tree and I just love how it shines!

Here is the pretty rustic wreath ornament on my tree and I think it is just perfect.

To see the rest of the ornament exchange please visit Vicky at Life on Willie Mae Lane.  Thank you Vicky for hosting and organizing this fun ornament exchange.  Thanks to my new friend Anne at Stuff & Nonsense for all the wonderful ornaments.  My Christmas tree looks beautiful decorated with the ornaments you gave me.  Thanks also to Tuula at The Thrifty Rebel who I sent my package to, we are now following each other and are friends.

Thanks everyone and enjoy.

Crochet Christmas Wreath Ornament & Pattern

December 2, 2013

I have been busy crocheting mini wreath ornaments for family and friends for Christmas this year.  This is a simple ornament pattern that I designed and would love to share with you.  Won't these look great on your Christmas Tree?

You can even use them to go along with a gift tag on a present.  You can have these made in no time and they are fun to make.  For this pattern I used kitchen cotton, but you could use acrylic yarn if you like or have on hand.

Crochet Christmas Wreath Ornament Pattern

Crochet Hook:  US size G or H
Yarn:  Lily Sugar 'n Cream Cotton - Color: Dark Pine and Red Rouge Rojo

ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet

Chain 5, slip stitch to make a ring.  Chain 3 and make 12 double crochet in ring.  Slip stitch to end of top of the 3 chain.  Make a loop and tie a knot to end.  Take red yarn and cut 9 inches long to make a bow at bottom of wreath.

I hope I have inspired you to make this fun mini wreath ornament for Christmas.

Chunky Knit Scarf

November 29, 2013

Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving yesterday as much as I did.   I finished the chunky knit scarf that I have been working on.  This will be the perfect scarf to keep you warm.  I made it for our annual Christmas Fair that we had at our church last weekend.  Unfortunately it was not sold, so I will be saving this scarf for the fair for next year.

The yarn I used for this scarf is soft and chunky.  For the details on the yarn I used and the book that I am still reading is Julie and Romeo by Jeanne Ray.  I also decided to make the scarf into a regular scarf at the last minute instead of an infinity scarf.

I love knitting, crocheting and reading books and I feel happy when I have finished creating something.  I usually knit or crochet when I'm watching TV at night.  I find it hard to read and finish a book because I'm busy creating which takes up a lot of time.

Happy Thanksgiving

November 24, 2013

Hi friends, I have a dog named Bosco that I usually take for long walks each morning and I took some pictures along the way last week that I would like to share with you.  You can see that the trees are losing leaves and changing colors.  In the distance you also can see the water and it's such a lovely walk in the morning.

There is a section that has benches that you can sit and watch the water and the boats going by.

You can see the pretty yellow and brown colors of the leaves and brown crisp leaves that have fallen off the trees.

There is still some green left on some of the bushes and plants and I love all the colors of fall.  Soon there will be no leaves left on the trees and everything will be bare.  Last Tuesday the weather was so cold here that we had snow, but it didn't stick for long on the ground.  This is a picture of my cute and sweet rescue dog and he's part Corgi and Dachshund and I think he likes his walks too.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you all enjoy spending time with family, friends and eating good food.  I'm so thankful for my family, friends and you my blog friends.  We will be spending the holiday here at home and have dinner later in the afternoon because my daughter will be doing community service at our local high school giving out Thanksgiving Dinner.  What will you be doing for Thanksgiving?  Let me know I would love to hear.

A special welcome to all my new followers to my blog and for the people that featured me last week on some of your blogs.  It means so much to me and it always makes me smile.

Thanks everyone and enjoy.

Julie

WIP Chunky Knit Infinity Scarf

November 20, 2013

I love knitting, crocheting and reading, and recently I discovered a blog that has just that!  The blog is called Small Things run by Ginny and you can find her blog HERE.  Ginny has a blog party on Wednesday called Yarn Along where you can share both what you knit/crochet and what book you are reading.  I would like to share with you my knit project and book I'm reading.

This is my work in progress knit infinity scarf.  The yarn I am using is thick and the needles are US size 11 and I casted on 13 stitches.  The yarn is Twinkle Hand Knits Soft Chunky in the color 52 Dusty Pink.  I need to make this scarf long and I have used 1 skein and then added another skein to that.  I want to be able to have the scarf wrapped around the neck two times.

This is the book I am currently reading that my mom bought for me at a yard sale for 25 cents.  This book is a love story between two people that come from families that each own florist shops and are enemies and feuding with each other.   I like the book and I am towards the end of reading it.  I am curious to see what happens at the end of the book with both families.  My mom and I also like the fact that the girls name in the book is Julie!

I look forward to finishing this scarf I'm working on and the book.  Maybe some of you who like to knit/crochet will be interested in joining along at these parties I mentioned.
