Books I've Read - October 2026

October 1, 2026

Hello friends, happy October 🍂

I love this season for getting comfortable and cozy reading books.

I'd love to share with you the books I've read recently.

SUCH A FUN AGE BY KILEY REID

I found this book in our neighborhood's little library.  I love reading a physical book, and this is from Reece's Book Club.  It's about a babysitter who is wrongly accused of kidnapping the child she is babysitting one evening while shopping in a high-end grocery store by a security guard and a shopper.  This book talks about race, privilege, and the relationship between two women.  I recommend this book and enjoyed reading it.

TWISTED TWENTY-SIX BY JANET EVANOVICH

I found the book at the little library in our neighborhood.  This is the first time I've read a book by this author.  I enjoyed reading this Stephanie Plum series and I found it to be a fun mystery read.  I would like to read more books by this author.

BEAUTIFUL UGLY BY ALICE FEENEY

This book was recommended by Heather at Our Life in a Click.  If you read this Heather, thanks for the recommendation.  I totally enjoyed reading this book.  It had a lot of twists and turns to the story that I did not see coming, and I couldn't put it down.

SHE'S NOT SORRY BY MARY KUBICA

I was on the wait list at my library for a few months for this book.  When the book was ready for me to read, I was excited but, I started reading it but I didn't like it, so I returned the book.  This was disappointing to me, but if I don't like a book that I'm reading, I will return it to the library.

LOVE LIES AND PUMPKIN SPICE BY RACHEL BEATTIE

This is an easy cozy mystery that I enjoyed reading.  It's a perfect mystery read for the fall season.

What are you reading now?  If you have book recommendations, please let me know.

I will share this post at the monthly book link-up party, Share Your Shelf.  It's held on the first Thursday of each month.  Slices of Life

  2. Happy October Julie. Your book reviews are great. I love how you rate the books. So sense continuing to read a book if you don’t enjoy it.

  3. I don't think Janet Evanovich ever disappoints! You had a great reading month. I'm in the middle of an Ann Cleeves book, "The Raging Storm."

  8. I love your reviews. I am like you in that I no long slog through books that I started and didn't enjoy. I pass them on or return them. Life is too short. I copied a couple of these books down to read. xo Diana

  12. Your note on the relationship between the two women in Such a Fun Age caught my attention. Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam-joo, translated by Jamie Chang, could be an interesting companion to that part of your list. It follows a Korean woman through school, work and marriage, showing how unequal expectations accumulate in ordinary life. From your description, the connection is the weight of social pressures inside everyday encounters.
