Currently - April 2026

April 1, 2026

Hello friends, and happy April! 🌸

I'm joining Amy from the blog, Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa, for her Currently link-up.  It's held on the first Wednesday of each month.

This month, we are sharing what we are loving, planting or hatching (literal or figurative - like planting an idea or hatching a plan), cleaning (spring), eating and drinking, and reading and watching.

LOVING:  I'm loving that we are in the month of April.  I am looking forward to warm and sunny spring days.  I can't wait to wear a spring coat and put away my winter coat, scarf, hat, and gloves.

PLANTING OR HATCHING:  My husband and I are hoping to spend some time going out in the city.  I'm hoping to go to some museums, like when we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and take a walk in Central Park.

CLEANING:  I will be spring cleaning out our yard and getting ready to plant spring flowers and vegetables.

I've had my angel statue for about 30 years, which my mom gave to me, and I love it.

We had such a cold and snowy winter, and my statue of Mary fell over and the hand broke off.  We had to glue the hands back on.  I've had this statue for 31, years and it made me sad that the statue fell and cracked.  I will be moving Mary to another area of the garden, and hopefully it will stay put and not fall over.

I plant different herbs and veggies in the large pots that I put out in my yard.

I like to plant tomato plants, but I don't have much luck with getting a lot of tomatoes.  I've had better luck with cherry tomato plants.

EATING AND DRINKING:

My husband and I went out to lunch on St. Patrick's Day to a local pub.  We both had beer, and my husband had steak and I had Shephard's pie.  I was hoping to have some Irish soda bread with our meal, and I was disappointed not to have any this year.  The scarf I am wearing is from my trip to Ireland many years ago visiting The Book of Kells.  I like wearing my scarf every St. Patrick's Day.

I had a hot latte at a new coffee place that opened up in our neighborhood.  I do love to see coffee art that they make with the cream foam.

READING AND WATCHING:  I have a blog post scheduled for tomorrow on the books I've read recently.  I have been watching Shrinking,  Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, and we just started watching Hacks.  I just saw Harry Styles' One Night Manchester, and My Oxford Year and both were good.

What is currently new with you?

  1. You look so cute in your St. Patty's Day scarf. That shepherds pie looks amazing! I'm sorry about your Mary statue. I'm glad she could be fixed. Your garden is so pretty. I'm so looking forward to warm sunny days! It's fun to see some of the bulbs popping up and the trees starting to bloom. The birds have been so loud lately but I love to see them. I've been watching Love Story. We haven't started the new season of Shrinking yet. I love Hacks! Your latte looked yummy!

  2. This was a fun one, Julie. I'm a little envious of your garden -- it takes a lot of work. I'll be picking up the yard, this week, too. (If it stops raining!) When putting out eggs for last Sunday's egg hunt, I realized how many branches had come down in the winter and that there were a lot of leaves in the front (all from the neighbor's tree!) Your St. Patrick's day lunch looks fabulous!

  4. I love your Irish scarf. That is a fun idea to buy something there to wear on St. Patrick's Day. I will have to look for something when we go in September!

  6. I am so excited for April warmth, too, Julie! The past two days were such a tease. I'm back in a turtleneck sweater today, but happy to see pink cherry blossom tree buds and the yellow forsythia blooming in our yard. Love the pretty scarf! xxoo

  8. That St Patricks Day meal looks delicious! I love latte art as well - I learned how to do it when I worked at a coffee roastery but was never very skilled. Needed more practice I suppose.
Hope your garden statues stay safe in their new spots - they are very pretty.
Glad for the April warmth and even warmer days ahead!
