Creative Outlets/Free Time - Share Our Lives

April 14, 2025

Hello friends.  I am joining Joanne from Slices of Life for the monthly link-up Share Our Lives.  This month we are discussing Creative Outlets/Free Time.

One of the things I like to do (depending on the weather) is to take Lucy for a late morning or afternoon walk.  I'm looking forward to when the weather warms up and we can go for longer walks together.

I like to go to my gym in the morning or evening about three times a week to take an exercise class.  I am in the photo in the first row in the middle.  We had a Valentine's day Zumba class that I enjoyed and I have some nice gym friends that I like seeing each week.

When I have free time in the afternoons if I'm in the mood I like to crochet.

I crocheted this amigurumi Christmas tree right around the holidays for Christmas.  I found the kit on Amazon and everything I needed to make the tree was included.  It was a fun craft to make for Christmas.

I love reading books in the afternoon.  Occasionally I also like to read at night right before bedtime.  This is one of my favorite ways to relax.  You can read about the books I read here.

I like blogging in the morning or afternoon when I have free time.

When I have free time I like to do any online shopping that I need to get done.

In the late afternoon, I like to start to get dinner ready.  This way I have dinner already just to heat up when everyone is home from work or their evening workouts.

These are just a few ways I like to spend my free time.  How do you enjoy spending your free time?

  2. These are all fabulous ways to spend your free time. I didn't think of time at the gym as "free" time since it's sort of something I feel like I have to check off my list but I do enjoy going.

  3. Julie, it sounds like you have a busy life. From the gym, reading, blogging, crocheting and cooking is a lot. Happy week ahead.

  4. You do sound busy! Filling your day with so many things I'm sure is second nature to you! I'm glad it's stopped raining finally. That will make your walks with Lucy so much nicer!

  9. Julie - your Zumba class looks like so much fun. If we don't exercise first thing in the AM we kind of fall off the routine, but we did just start a Muscle Moves class which is fun. SO in my free time I like to exercise, walk, blog, cook, craft, and most of all READ! Your crochet tree is SO cute! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter !

  10. My friend started crocheting during the pandemic and she's made me so much cute stuff -- a purse, a hat, a garland of bunnies, and (my favourite) a blanket!

  11. I love going to the gym everyday and working out, like you, Julie. I have so many friends that I’ve made through the years. I’m crocheting potholders right now. Your little ornament is adorable. We pretty much have a lot in common. I get started with dinner in the afternoon, too.
    Happy Easter, my friend ✝️

  12. So fun that you have friends at the gym...that makes it more enticing to go, I imagine. Online shopping is too much of a free time activity for me. haha Thanks for linking up with us.
