We took a trip to New York City last month to buy new iPhones. We had an appointment at the Apple Store at 14th Street.
The process for checking in was fast and organized. We both bought iPhone 12 phones and set them up at home.
A few doors down from the Apple Store we visited Starbucks Reserve Roastery. I had a hot latte and a delicious croissant.
If you look right across the street from Starbucks you will see Chelsea Market.
You can also see Google headquarters across the street.
We decided to take a walk around the area. Serafina is one of my daughter's favorite Italian restaurants. They have delicious tasting pizza and pasta.
I thought that these stained glass houses looked so interesting.
There are many designer stores and restaurants in Chelsea.
It rained early in the morning and then stopped when we arrived in the city. You can see that it was a dark and cloudy day.
Pastis is a nice French bistro. You can see how they built an outside eating area.
Below you can see part of the High Line and the Whitney Museum.
The streets were empty of people. This area is normally crowded with a lot of people walking around.
Below are the Standard hotel and restaurant.
We enjoyed our visit to the city but it felt strange to see it so quiet and empty of people.
We did not have our coffee inside Starbucks. They had tables outside where we sat and had our snacks and coffee. We didn't dine in any of the nice restaurants either as at the time there wasn't any dine-in in restaurants.
I look forward to when the virus is over and everything will be somewhat back to normal again.
I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos of Chelsea, New York City.
Have you been anywhere fun lately?
Lovely trip Julie! Have fun with your new phones, and use them in good health! We've been pretty much stuck at home. We use the weekends to go out in nature, and away from public places.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting your new phones Julie, it sounds like a nice trip and how lovely to be able to actually sit in a café and have coffee or in a restaurant and have a meal, I'm looking forward to those days returning here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I'm happy we have new phones. It was a nice visit to the city. We didn't have coffee inside Starbucks or dine-in at any restaurant as at the time there wasn't any dine-in at restaurants. Thanks for the blog visit and enjoy the week.
DeleteIt looks like a fun outing Julie...but honestly, I can't believe how empty the city was...kind of eerie. I really hope that changes soon and the magical hustle and bustle is back. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI love Chelsea Market and the High Line. I miss visiting it all. Thank you for sharing your trip. That Starbucks sounds so cool! All of the restaurants look great too! I can't wait to be able to visit again!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tour of your trip, Julie. I know you’ll be glad to do some dine in when this virus is behind us. Oh, I hope it’s soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice little tour of Chelsea. You are so lucky to be close enough to enjoy the downtown areas. I bet it is strange to not have people everywhere. Let's hope that things will regain some normal again soon. Happy Wednesday. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Julie - looks like you had a great but quiet visit to NYC. We love it there - we were supposed to go last year early in March for my birthday. Had hotel reservations for 3 nights, tix to 3 Broadway shows...then late in February my dear husband had a major heart attack. We still thought we might be able to go if he took it easy, but he ended up back in the hospital. A blessing in disguise because we would have been there when Covid was starting to show up. We sold the Hamilton and Six tickets, Come From Away refunded our money ( they were so great!) and the Library Hotel - where we got a good rate as a non-refundable program - said they would credit our account and hold it until March 2021. Just had that extended to March 2022! Hoping that life gets back to normal and we can enjoy the city....jotting down all of your suggestions! Be safe in the cold/snow this week!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you weren't able to get to the city and your husbands situation. It will be better to come and visit when it's safe and your husband is feeling better. Hope you stay warm and cozy from the snow storm.
DeleteYour trip looks like a ton of fun!! Yay for the new phones, so exciting! Yay for coffee! I haven’t been inside Starbucks in forever, we always get it from the drive thru! Thank you for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteWe did have a fun time in the city and thanks for the blog visit.
DeleteHow fun!! We were supposed to go to NYC last spring break but we still haven't been able to go. Maybe sometime in the fall! I loved this post!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you and the family will be able to visit NYC when things are safe. Thanks for the blog visit.
Deletethat must have been so strange seeing New York empty! I'm dying to get an iPhone 12, can you tell a big difference in the camera {I have a 10x Max} I haven't been inside a restaurant in a year!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice you got to take a trip there but strange seeing everything so empty! Enjoy your new phones, hopefully next time you take a trip into the city you are able to eat at one of the lovely restaurants you shared :)
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a good weekend!

That sounds like a fun day out. Those stained glass houses are so neat!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been so nice to have a day out in the city. I agree that it is so strange to see it empty and without crowds. The new iphone has an incredible camera! Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday!
ReplyDeleteBoy. I haven't been to the City since before the pandemic hit. It's sad to see it so empty. I've spent a lot of time downtown in Chelsea/the West Village and eaten at the Standard many times. We've even ice skated at the rink there. It was nice to see a glimpse of places that I've been. I miss getting into the City on a regular basis. Sigh.
