How to Re-Grow Lettuce

June 1, 2020

Hello blog friends.  Happy June!

Let's Re-Grow Lettuce

Have you ever tried to re-grow lettuce?  I didn't realize that you could do this but I discovered you can by visiting the blog Walking On Sunshine Recipes.  Lois explains how to re-grow lettuce HERE.

I make salads every day and I thought that this would be a great idea to try.
I was so happy to see the romaine lettuce re-growing after a week.

The steps are easy to re-grow your own lettuce:

  • Take romaine lettuce and cut off the end of the lettuce.
  • Add water to a mason jar.
  • Place the end of the lettuce in a mason jar.
  • Change water every other day in the mason jar.
  • Wait for lettuce to start re-growing in the middle of the lettuce.
  • You can replant lettuce after 2 weeks of growing to a pot or garden.

Re-Grow Lettuce

NOTE:  I replanted the romaine lettuce outside in two planters.  The lettuce is growing big and almost ready for clipping and using in a salad.

  5. I keep pinning ideas how to regrow veggies and fruits but never actually did, oh wait - my daughter tried to regrow a pineapple but it rot - apparently she didn't cut it where it should, so we have one failed attempt.

  12. My neighbor was that lettuce could be regrown but she didn't know how to do it. I should have saved the end of the plant she gave me. She literally pulled the entire Romaine plant out of the ground! I'm so glad you posted this. I will share it with her and maybe she can start to regrow any she has left. Did you use lettuce from a store or your garden?

  27. Thanks for sharing this. I did one right away and by the next day it had already grown a little. Can't
wait to watch it grow more and then plant it. My daughter said she had seen where there were others
you could do that with like celery and onions. Just saw one of your one of your followers said she did it with scallions, and we grew a pineapple by planting the top once and it grew to just the right size so I could cut it, but some animal probably a racoon got it.....so we were so bummed, but my
neighbor grows pineapples all the time, and they are delicious.
    Happy growing!! Blessings, Nellie
