I crocheted these cute potholders recently, and I'd love to share them with you. :)
When summer and hot weather arrives I love crocheting potholders. For me they are fun to make and I love working with cotton yarn as it's just too hot for me to work with wool. I also like making quick little projects that can be brought along anywhere to work on. These are perfect to use as potholders, a coaster, or even a dishcloth.
I made the red potholder for my mom, to match her kitchen colors. The yellow potholder I made for my sister. These make great gifts and you can add pretty soap or liquid dish soap to them.
Details to Make Your own Potholder:
The yarn I used is Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton.
The red yarn is - Hot Pepper
The yellow yarn is - Citrus
Crochet Hook - US size H
This potholder consists of the single and double crochet stitches throughout each row.

** You can use whatever yarn colors and cotton yarn to make these crochet potholders!

Those would make very nice gifts indeed. Perfect for summertime weather. I haven't crocheted much lately. I've been trying to knit and I'm a little slow at it. :)

ReplyDeleteI love your crochet potholders, Julie! Practical and pretty - you are sweet to your Mom! xx Karen
ReplyDeleteMy mom loved to crochet. I learned to knit, but I am interested in learning to crochet as well.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother use to crochet these for all of our wedding showers. Can't tell you what happened to them over the years but my daughters use to play with them for beds for their babies.
ReplyDeleteI used to make potholders with my grandma at the lake all of the time. I loved it. Your flag one is my favorite.

ReplyDeleteCute potholders, Julie. They look nice and thick. I too prefer to knit or crochet with cotton or lighter lace type of yarns in the hot weather. I recently finished a dish towel and dishcloth set in cotton yarn.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at SYC! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteFrom someone who only knows how to knit dishcloths (just about!), I can attest to the comfort of cotton in the summer. I have knit a few scarves with wool and acrylic and I wouldn't want to do that in this 90-degree heat! I know you are filling up your Christmas bag full of knitted and crocheted stuff, Julie -- you're amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWell, what a good idea, I was looking at them and thinking I need to try these soon! It is so nice to have a quick project that can be completed and not a huge blanket, as we would roast LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs, Roxy... I did Pin It !
