A Slow Start to Spring Gardening

May 2, 2018

Hello, friends and Happy May!  I can't believe it's already the beginning of May.  The weather is finally starting to warm up here.  Yay!  I hope it is in your neck of the woods.

Unfortunately, with it being such a cold spring here, I have not been able to do any spring planting of flowers or vegetables yet.

I am hoping to be able to do some planting of flowers by Mother's Day.  I love going to the garden center and picking out a variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables to plant in containers in my yard.

Every day I get out to walk my dog and on one of our walks, I managed to take photos of these daffodils growing wild on the sides of the street.

In my front yard, I have a cherry blossom tree that I enjoy looking at when it blooms.  Right now it looks like it has snowed with all of the blossoms laying on the ground.

On one of my visits walking through our neighborhood, I happened to pass a florist that had a huge variety of spring flowers outside its shop.

I love hydrangea plants and they are one of my favorite flowers.  I like all the different shades of the flower blooms but my favorite are the ones that come in the pink.

I happened to be passing by this pretty planter with colorful pink and purple flowers surrounding a small tree.

I am not sure what these white flowers are but they look so pretty in the gold plant stand.

The yellow daffodils in this planter look so cheerful and brighten everything up after the bad winter and cold spring we've had.

I can't wait to do my spring gardening soon.  I hope you all enjoyed looking at these spring flowers in my neighborhood.

I will be sharing at this garden link party.  This is a monthly garden link party that will take place on all five blogs.  It is to be hosted the last Friday of every month until Fall.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day and the weekend!

  5. I am going to plant hydrangea's this year out in my garden area's. I cannot wait to get out there too. Usually Mother's Day is when I start too. Just glad Old Man Winter has finally left. That was a long winter.
    Happy Thursday.

  6. I am amazed that you have flowers in pots that are surviving in your neighborhood! So pretty! Things are just starting to pop here in Upstate NY. My Forsythia are blooming and the pink flowering trees (not sure what) are blooming up and down my street. Finally! I just put my first bag of mulch down and I have a TON more work to go :-(

  8. Hi Julie! I'm so glad you joined in the garden party. Even if it's not full on spring where you are, we know it will come! It looks like you are a good month behind us here in Texas. It's already pretty warm and we are running the AC all the time.

Be sure to come back and join the garden party again on May 25th. I love to see the variations in our gardens and climates around the country.

  9. So nice to see the spring blooms out your way, Julie. Don't you just love daffodils that grow 'wild'? It always makes me wonder who planted them, 'once upon a time'. So nice to have the cherry tree to enjoy this time of year. Hope you have a lovely weekend! Hugs xo Karen

Beautiful blooms!! We , too, are having a late start to Spring. In fact, now that the weather is warmer, everything is blooming and budding all at once because we went right from freezing to record heat of 90 degrees the other day!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
