Easy Knit Scarf

June 9, 2016

Hello everyone.  While some of you are thinking about summer, I love crocheting and knitting all year long.

I recently shared with you my 5 crochet projects HERE, that I made over the winter.  Well, I made so many crocheted projects and I was just got so tired of crocheting, that I decided to knit a scarf.  I made this black scarf with thick yarn and large knitting needles.

I loved using this black yarn because it has mixed into it the colors yellow, blue, green, and purple.  I feel like this will go with any color winter coat.

It was a nice change from crocheting and I enjoyed knitting this simple scarf.

Here is the knitted scarf all finished.  I will be donating this to our annual holiday knit/crochet sale we have every fall at my church.  I now have a large bag filled with crochet and knit items that I made since the beginning of the year.

The yarn is from Lion Brand, Color Waves, soft boucle yarn in the color LAVA #353 Lot # 20594.01.   The yarn is thick and chunky and the knitting needle size is US size 13.  I looked up this yarn online at the Lion Brand website, but I don't think they make this yarn anymore.  This yarn was given to me by my mom a few years ago.  You can always use something similar in thick yarn.

I love using thick yarn and large knitting needles, which made the scarf work up faster.  The stitch I used to make the scarf is the garter stitch.  To see this stitch you can click HERE.

I hope I have inspired you to knit a scarf using thick yarn and large knitting needles.  Are you working on any knit or crochet projects right now?

Thanks everyone and enjoy!

Julie
