Yo-Yo Christmas Garland

December 7, 2014

Hi friends, I made many years ago a yo-yo garland for my Christmas tree.  I love the way it gives my Christmas tree a country feeling.

Here are my yo-yo's laid out on my table that I made.  I cut all the fabric into circles and then sewed them to form the yo-yo and then sewed each end together to make the garland.

Here you can see the garland on my Christmas tree from last year.

Here is my Christmas tree 2013 decorated with my handmade yo-yo garland.

To make each fabric yo-yo you need to have each fabric cut into 5 1/4 inch x 5 1/4 inch circles.  To make each yo-yo you can see the tutorial at Stephanie's blog The Enchanting Rose.

I really enjoyed sewing these together and I hope I have inspired you to make your own Yo-Yo Garland.

I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season and thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love this garland Julie! I've just finished decorating my third tree and feel totally decorated out! What was lovely was one of the boxes I opened to find your Christmas bauble from last year along with the wreath brooch and garland tree decorations from you and one from Stephanie too! All are now on my tree on my landing :-) Have a wonderful week xx

  3. This is a great idea Julie! I love fabric yo yo's but have never made any. It really does give a sort of country or Victorian look to your tree. I still haven't got decorations out yet. I have a garland I made out of felted sweaters cut into 1-inch circles all threaded together. It has a similar look to the yo yo's. Thanks for the link too! Enjoy your evening :) Wendy x

  4. I have made many yo-yos but never a garland with them. This is so pretty and it does indeed give your tree a warm, country feel. Looking forward to seeing it on your tree this year. Have a great week!

  5. Beautiful garland, Julie :-) I've never mastered the art of sewing (the dream still lives on), but I crochet a lot of yo yos. Maybe I'll try my hand at a crocheted yo yo garland.

I have a small fabric yo-yo garland on my tree now, but I'd love to make more sometime. And it would be an easy sewing craft that my daughter could do as well. Stopping by from Creative Mondays. Have a good week!
