Chunky Knit Scarf

Friday, November 29, 2013

Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving yesterday as much as I did.   I finished the chunky knit scarf that I have been working on and here is what it looks like.  This will be the perfect scarf to keep you warm.  I made it for our annual Christmas Fair that we had at our church last weekend.  Unfortunately it was not sold, so I will be saving this scarf for the fair for next year.

The yarn I used for this scarf is soft and chunky.  For the details on the yarn I used and the book that I am still reading you can find it HERE.  I also decided to make the scarf into a regular scarf at the last minute instead of an infinity scarf.

I love knitting, crocheting and reading books and I feel happy when I have finished creating something.  I usually knit or crochet when I'm watching TV at night.  I find it hard to read and finish a book because I'm busy creating which takes up a lot of time.

I will be sharing this with these parties and other parties as well.

Happy Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Hi friends, I have a dog named Bosco that I usually take for long walks each morning and I took some pictures along the way last week that I would like to share with you.  You can see that the trees are losing leaves and changing colors.  In the distance you also can see the water and it's such a lovely walk in the morning.

There is a section that has benches that you can sit and watch the water and the boats going by.

You can see the pretty yellow and brown colors of the leaves and brown crisp leaves that have fallen off the trees.

There is still some green left on some of the bushes and plants and I love all the colors of fall.  Soon there will be no leaves left on the trees and everything will be bare.  Last Tuesday the weather was so cold here that we had snow, but it didn't stick for long on the ground.  This is a picture of my cute and sweet rescue dog and he's part Corgi and Dachshund and I think he likes his walks too.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you all enjoy spending time with family, friends and eating good food.  I'm so thankful for my family, friends and you my blog friends.  We will be spending the holiday here at home and have dinner later in the afternoon because my daughter will be doing community service at our local high school giving out Thanksgiving Dinner.  What will you be doing for Thanksgiving?  Let me know I would love to hear.

A special welcome to all my new followers to my blog and for the people that featured me last week on some of your blogs.  It means so much to me and it always makes me smile.

WIP Chunky Knit Infinity Scarf

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

I love knitting, crocheting and reading, and recently I discovered a blog that has just that!  The blog is called Small Things run by Ginny and you can find her blog HERE.  Ginny has a blog party on Wednesday called Yarn Along where you can share both what you knit/crochet and what book you are reading.  I would like to share with you my knit project and book I'm reading.

This is my work in progress knit infinity scarf.  The yarn I am using is thick and the needles are US size 11 and I casted on 13 stitches.  The yarn is Twinkle Hand Knits Soft Chunky in the color 52 Dusty Pink.  I need to make this scarf long and I have used 1 skein and then added another skein to that.  I want to be able to have the scarf wrapped around the neck two times.
.

This is the book I am currently reading that my mom bought for me at a yard sale for 25 cents.  This book is a love story between two people that come from families that each own florist shops and are enemies and feuding with each other.   I like the book and I am towards the end of reading it.  I am curious to see what happens at the end of the book with both families.  My mom and I also like the fact that the girls name in the book is Julie!

I will also be sharing my work in progress with Tami's Amis Work in Progress Wednesday.  I am new to her blog party and I will be attending other parties this week as well.  Tami's Amis has on Fridays a blog party called Finished Object Friday too. I will be sharing this at My Merry Messy Life & Moogly party - Hookin On Hump Day.

I look forward to finishing this scarf I'm working on and the book.  Maybe some of you who like to knit/crochet will be interested in joining along at these parties I mentioned.

Perfect Baked Potato Recipe

Monday, November 18, 2013

Hello, I hope you all enjoyed the weekend.  Recently I shared with you a recipe for meatloaf HERE.  Well this week I want to share with you the perfect baked potato recipe.  Everyone loves a baked potato and here is a simple recipe that will go with any dish for dinner or for the holidays.  You can even make a baked potato for lunch and add sour cream and chives, or cheese and bacon bits.

Perfect Baked Potato Recipe

Ingredients:

baking potatoes (I used Russet Potatoes)
olive oil, vegetable oil or butter
coarse sea salt or sea salt

Preparation:

Adjust rack in oven to middle position and preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Rinse and scrub potatoes under cold running water.  Rub the outside of potato with olive oil.  Roll the potatoes in sea salt.  Place on baking sheet and bake for 60 minutes.

A Friend From England

Friday, November 15, 2013

Hello and Happy Friday everyone.  I would like to introduce you to my sweet friend Chel who has a wonderful blog called Sweetbriar Dreams and she is lives in England.

I met Chel through twitter about a year ago and from the first time I visited her lovely blog I was hooked.  Chel shares her travels through the countryside of England, to the city of London.  She writes about her love of gardening, the Cathedral where she works, to her love of baking, crocheting and many more hobbies.  What I love most about her blog is the photos and the stories and places she takes  everyone on.  It's always an adventure.

When I first started my blog a year ago Chel was right there for me and was supportive and helpful.  I didn't know anything about blogging and I'm so glad that she guided me patiently.  I am thankful that we became blog friends and I'm sure you will be hooked as well once you see and read her blog.

Thanks Chel for our friendship, it's been so much fun and I love how we have connected and became friends even though we never met!

P. S. Chel has a blog post up right now HERE of a festive garden center called Baytree in her area where she lives that you do not want to miss.  I do hope that you take the time to visit her lovely blog.

Have a great weekend everyone and see you next week.

Butter London Nail Lacquer

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

I love nail polish and have tried so many over the years and I want to share with you this polish that my daughter and I discovered.  Have you ever tried or heard of Butter London Nail Lacquer?  Well it is an amazing nail polish and it comes in so many colors!

We went on vacation over the summer to London and my daughter and I went into the drugstore Boots and the store had a lot of wonderful makeup and nail polish.  My daughter bought the nail polish in a pretty peach shade.

I bought the polish called Queen Vic and this is what it looks like.  This is how they describe this nail polish on the Butter London website:  A stunning, elegant and classy lacquer.  Red wine meets cranberry in this royal creme.  A nail lacquer fit for a queen.

It is the perfect shade for fall and winter and I always receive many compliments whenever I where it.  People always ask me what color it is and I love telling them it's from Butter London and same for my daughter.

This nail polish comes in so many pretty and vibrant shades and will look great for the holidays!  If you like nail polish you should check it out and let me know what you think.

The link for Button London Nail Lacquer is HERE.

P.S. This will make a great stocking stuffer for the holidays or treat yourself.

Pumpkin Bundt Cake

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Happy Weekend everyone!  Would you all like a piece of pumpkin cake?  Well I have this recipe to share with you that is super easy to make and perfect for fall.

We went to visit family this weekend and I baked this pumpkin cake to bring and everyone loved it.  It is a combination of cake and pie in one.

I found this recipe on the blog Craft Dictator that Cara runs with her mom.  Cara made pumpkin muffins that have been featured on many blogs and so I decided to give it a try.  For the recipe you can find it HERE.  I decided to make mine into a cake and used a bundt pan.

The recipe calls for 1 box of spice cake mix but I couldn't find it in the store, so I used yellow cake mix instead.  I used Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake Mix.  The recipe also calls for a small can of pumpkin, so I used 16 oz. of pumpkin.  I sprinkled powdered sugar on top too.

I hope that I have inspired you try this fun and easy recipe for muffins or cake.  Let me know how your cake came out and if you liked it.  Thanks Cara for sharing this.
