Knitted Chunky Cowl Pattern

May 8, 2013

Back in March I attended Brooklyn Craft Camp hosted by Brett Bara from the TV show Knit and Crochet Now.  One of the crafts I signed up for was to make a Knitted Chunky Cowl and here is the pattern to make one.

Here is the Noro yarn that I use to make the knitted cowl.

This is the chunky cowl that I knitted using large knitting needles.

This is what the cowl looks like laid out flat on a table.

Here is the pattern that was given to us to make this cool Knitted Cowl:

Beginner/Advanced Knitted Chunky Cowl

This pattern provides two options - garter stitch if you are completely new to knitting, and seed stitch if you want something a little more challenging.

Yarn: 1 skein Cascade Magnum - We were provided with Noro Hitsuji - Color No. 4 Lot No. 4
Needles: Size 15 straight
Notions: Tapestry needle

1. Make a slip knot near the end of the yarn.

2. Cast on 23 stitches using the knitted cast on method

3A (beginner garter stitch cowl).  Knit every stitch on every row until you have fifteen inches of yarn left.

3B (advanced beginner seed stitch cowl).  Knit in seed stitch (knit the purl stitches and purl and knit stitches) until you have fifteen inches of yarn left.

4. Cast off

5. Seam cast on edge to cast off edge.

Note: For my cowl I just used the garter stitch or knit stitch.

How about giving this chunky cowl a try it would make a great Christmas present!

Thanks everyone and enjoy.
